The NEWS: Music Fusion are delighted to announce that the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire & Isle of Wight has committed to funding the next 18 months of our award winning Mavericks Programme.
The ISSUE: Havant and Portsmouth contain wards that are the most deprived areas in the country. The result is more young people becoming victims of and turning to serious crime and violence. Through young peoples music and culture we see an influx of negative role models for young people.
‘Mavericks LINES’ is meant to be a provocative title, designed to inspire conversation. What does this mean to our young people? Lines can be lyrics, bars, boundaries, drugs, or organized crime…?
The MISSION:
1. Inspire young people who are at risk of being drawn into serious crime to make better life choices.
2. Use young people’s music, lyrics, stories and experiences to inspire others already committing serious crime to make a change.
The OUTCOME: The Mavericks project will culminate in the release of three high quality albums of authentic music across all streaming platforms, plus a documentary of the young peoples journey and showcase events.
Keep an eye out for us in your community from October 2025, when we will be looking for young people aged 12-25 to jump on the album, all whilst getting free studio time, plus access to top level industry equipment and producers.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the Mavericks programme over the last 14 years. We look forward to hopefully working with you again. Together we are more than just a music charity.
