Sepher Yetzirah Magic by renowned author David Rankine is a stand-alone work which requires no previous knowledge of Kabbalah, and presents a collection of practical magical and meditational techniques for solitary and group practice.

The Sepher Yetzirah stands as the foundation work of Kabbalah, a mystical and magical text which establishes the cosmology and roots of the tradition. The Sepher Yetzirah emphasises the symbol set of the Hebrew alphabet and expresses language as the liminal medium which unites emanation and manifestation. The divine force is given form in written language, the glyphs of letters being divine forms which act as receptacles of divine force and gateways to creating change. The expression of spoken language activates this divine force in innumerable permutations, expounded in this work through magical practices and meditational techniques drawn from the text and expressed through the voice of the practitioner.

The Greek Prayer of St. Cyprian is a versatile piece of ancient Christian magic with roots in medieval Byzantium. An apotropaic prayer in which pagan sorcery and Christian exorcism meet, the Greek Prayer has enjoyed a tumultuous seven-hundred-year history. Declared โ€œmost loathsome superstitionโ€ by the Protestant Bishop John Fell and forbidden by the Inquisition, in Eastern Christianity the Prayer was included in liturgical handbooks and widely used as a healing formula.

The Greek Prayer also became the origin of many popular Cyprianic formulae found in European grimoires, such as the Grimoire of Pope Leo, the Portuguese and Spanish books of St. Cyprian, and the Scandinavian Black Books. Its Greek form, however, so relevant to the historical context of the legendary Sorcerer Saint, has managed to pass largely unnoticed in contemporary Cypriana.

This pamphlet provides the first English translation of a version of the Greek Prayer, accompanied with notes on its history and use.

In the autumn of 1965, Cecil Williamson, founder of the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, was requested to inspect the contents of a hidden attic room at Snowshill Manor. The Manor, previously the residence of the architect, collector, and occasional 'necromancer' Charles Paget Wade, was gifted to the National Trust in 1951 and remains home to the vast collection of handcrafted objects Wade collected in order to preserve examples of disappearing craftsmanship. However, Wade also had a strong interest in both the power of occult visual language and its material culture, and created a whole room dedicated to the subject. Williamson would later describe what he discovered that day to be, "the den of an especially dangerous black magician."

Was this ever the case? Was Wade or his collection as especially dangerous as Williamson suggested, or was this an example of his own particular brand of showmanโ€™s cunning? Especially Dangerous: The Snowshill Collection is not only the fascinating story of the alchemical narrative changes the collection experienced, but also an exploration of the material and wider cultural contexts it takes place within, and the personalities that shaped it. Informed by academic and magical thinking alike, the strange journey of the Snowshill collection invites the reader to consider the occulted interior and exterior designs of the self-styled necromancer Charles Paget Wade, as well as the collecting methodologies and magical working practices of the showman Cecil Williamson. In addition, it interrogates Williamson's motivations, proposing that although his actions may have been questionable, his magical reasoning for doing so may well hold incredibly pertinent lessons for modern practitioners.

The German grimoire tradition, with its hugely diverse and significant range of material, is finally starting to get the attention it deserves. Amongst the many gems of this tradition, the seventeenth century Pneumatologia Occulta et Vera or The Hidden and True Pneumatology stands out for its unique combination of material.

The discussion of spirits, their nature, and how to work with them is illuminating, both in the scholarly discussion referencing Apollonius, Apulieus, Philostratus, Porphyry, and St Cyprian, and in the material given by the Olympic spirit Ophiel in a fascinating discourse recorded by the monk Albertus Bajer who conjured it.

The combination of unique material with parts from the Heptameron, Arbatel, and Three Books of Occult Philosophy provides an extensive range of angels and demons of the elements, planets, and zodiac along with methods of working with them. Of particular interest is the emphasis on the use of the bell and the crucifix. As with many German grimoires, locating treasure is a major theme which is explored in great detail, and the Hekate prayer for use with treasure spirits is another unexpected gem emphasising the survival of ancient Greek magic into the grimoire tradition.

Steve Savedowโ€™s translation of this obscure German text has done a great service to the grimoire tradition, adding it to the corpus of material available in the English language.

Some of our Guides tow the Underworld by Fr. Robert Nixon.

The Torture and Death of St. Cyprian and St. Justina offers the first English translation of a late-Medieval Latin account of the martyrdom of St. Cyprian and St. Justina of Antioch, the basis of which is an anonymous Latin text found in a manuscript dating from 1485, and composed in Rouen in the region of Normandy.

Here the focus on Justina seems to reflect that she had already acquired a kind of quasi-mythical status, as a type of Platonic โ€˜familiar spiritโ€™ to Cyprian, by the time the document was written. Also included in this volume is an abridged translation of a curious narration of the theft of the body of St. Justina by the Antipope John XVI, and his subsequent gifting of this holy relic to the Cathedral at Piacenza.

The narration offered in Saint Maria of Antioch tells of a certain young woman named Maria, who lived in Antioch in Syria, within whose story are manifest parallels in the story of St. Maria, Anthemius, Magnus, and to that of St. Cyprian and St. Justina, similarly associated with Antioch.

One can readily see Maria, Magnus, and Anthemius as corresponding respectively to the characters of Justina, Cyprian, and Aglaidus, yet the dynamic here is subtly and intriguingly distinctive.

The present text has been translated by Robert Nixon from a Greek hagiographical sketch, the sole extant copy of which is to be found in a manuscript of uncertain antiquity held at the Medici Library at Florence, and which was reproduced in the Acta Sanctorum for May 29, published in 1688. The story of Saint Maria is a wonderful tale exhibiting in striking colors the capriciousness of the human heart, the presence and potency of spiritual forces, and the unpredictability of all earthly affairs.

Cyprianus is the name of an infamous grimoire in Scandinavian folk magic and a byword for sorcery. In recent years, dozens of Cyprianus books have been translated into English, revealing a rich array of folk-magical operations similar to those found in the Iberian Cyprian tradition. Missing from this emergent literature, however, is the place of folklore.

Cyprianus: St. Cyprian and the Black Book in Scandinavian Folklore provides a translation of Danish legends relating to the Cyprianus, originally collected in the second half of the nineteenth century by the folklorist Evald Tang Kristensen. Most of these legends refer to the Cyprianus as a book โ€“ its powers, familiar spirits and those persons bold (and sometimes foolish) enough to read from its pages โ€“ while others recount the exploits of its eponymous author, a mysterious figure who, in Scandinavian lore, takes on different guises and genders. Still others reveal methods for outsmarting the Devil or banishing him entirely.

Together, the legends offer a perspective on the Cyprianus that helps contemporary readers understand the cultural and folk-magical context of this fabled grimoire.

The Hours: The ฮšฮฑฯ„ฮฑฯฯ‡ฮฑฮฏ of Hygromanteia explores the hidden depths of the Hygromanteia, the Greek precursor of the Key of Solomon, examining the nature and transmission of Magical Time through Greco-Egyptian practices to the present day. This form of Time is non-linear, cyclic, and mythic. We uncover some aspect of its expression in the North, upon the stellar axis upon which the Cosmos is set in motion, and investigate the cosmogonic Gods and Aerial Spirits which have been set there as sentinels through which we may negotiate. In this text we find, for the very first time, a reconstruction of the Names set over the Hours of the Days of the week as described by the Treatise of Solomon, and examine them in a new light, as the sublunar permutations of Planetary virtue.

Today is the feast day of Saint Cyprian of Antioch, the infamous sorcerer-saint. He and his beloved Justina were allegedly martyred on this day at Nicomedia, in 304 C.E. Whether or not their story is historically accurate no longer matters. Their books and prayers have infiltrated our occult world, and those of us who work with them know their powers are real. Hadeanโ€™s offering on this feast day is three new Cyprian texts from three different regions โ€“ three new ways to engage with the Saint and his magic.

For an overview, please follow the link in the comments, or visit our website to learn more. Many thanks to Simone Kotva, Josรฉ Leitรฃo, and Brian Johnson for making these texts available, and for giving us the opportunity to publish them.

Learning from Legendary Practitioners: A Necromantic Journey into History, Myth, and the Practice of Magic is a masterclass in the practice of spirit summoning and necromancy.

In this book Kadmus offers a series of investigations into ancient and legendary experts in the occult arts, including the ancient Greek figures of Circe, Teiresias, Medea, and Orpheus, as well as the supposed witches and faery queens who were the inspiration for the play Macbeth. These investigations engage with the myth and literature around each figure, as well as their historical and archeological contexts.

Each chapter seeks to provide both our best understanding of the practitioners in questions as well as explanations for how the author went on to contact these figures and what he learned from the experience โ€“ thus blending historical research with active occult investigation largely of necromantic nature. The result is a book that provides a full education in the practice of spirit summoning and necromancy as well as offering a complete profile of some of the artโ€™s most famous practitioners.

The second part of the book provides careful considerations of the nature of necromancy, its connection to the ancient cults of the dead which we understand as ancestor and hero worship, the enigmatic tomb cult, and finally a detailed guide for how to acquire an assistant spirit of the dead to aid in your necromantic work.

Learning from Legendary Practitioners is an invaluable book for those whose practice involves spirit work, and for those who are interested in spirit-summoning in general.
