A little throwback as I look back over SocialMyna’s journey… 💭

Back in 2014, I was invited to provide support services as part of the University of Derby “Let’s Do Business” campaign — and it turned into one of those pinch-me moments.

I had the pleasure of meeting Roger Black MBE… and I can honestly say, he was every bit as lovely as you’d hope.

It’s funny the moments that stay with you — not just for who you meet, but for how they make you feel at the time. Proud, slightly nervous, and very grateful to be in the room 💫

As SocialMyna comes to a close, it feels right to pause and appreciate these highlights — the people, the opportunities, and the experiences that shaped the journey.

With just one week remaining before SocialMyna is no more, I’ve found myself dipping back into the archives… and what a journey it’s been 🐦💛

One moment that really stopped me in my tracks was winning an award from Theo Paphitis.

What an accolade that was… and what a genuine turning point for the business.

At the time, it felt huge — and looking back now, it really was. That recognition gave SocialMyna a boost in confidence, visibility, and belief that what I was building truly mattered.

It opened doors, sparked conversations, and connected me with a brilliant community of small businesses all striving, growing and supporting each other.

Moments like that stay with you.

As this final week unfolds, I’m not just looking at how things are ending… but everything that helped shape the journey along the way.

Grateful for every milestone, every opportunity, and every person who’s been part of the SocialMyna story 💛

Back in 2015 I spent quite a bit of time perched in this superb office “nest” in Belper with my long-term friend Paul Bassi.

It was one of those workspaces that just felt right — light pouring through the windows, desks dotted around with ideas in progress, plenty of room for conversations, planning and the occasional moment of creative chaos.

Looking back, spaces like this weren’t just offices… they were places where collaborations grew, businesses evolved and plenty of good ideas took flight.

And of course, one of the real perks of this particular spot was its very convenient proximity to Birds sausage cobs… which definitely powered more than a few productive mornings.

Remember those, Mr Bassi? 😄

Funny how a photo can take you straight back to a moment in time — and remind you just how many brilliant people and places have been part of the journey.

A little throwback to a day spent at the Enterprise Centre in Derby working alongside the brilliant team at Evolve Derby in 2014

Back then I was delivering social media 1-2-1 sessions, sitting down with local businesses to talk through ideas, challenges and opportunities online. Every conversation was different — but they all had the same goal: helping people feel more confident about showing up for their business digitally.

These kinds of days were always some of my favourites.
Small groups, plenty of tea, lots of questions, and that lovely moment when something suddenly clicks for someone.

Looking back now, it reminds me how much I’ve enjoyed supporting businesses to find their voice online over the years.

Another memory from the SocialMyna journey that still makes me smile. 💛

Back in 2018 I spent quite a bit of time at Banks Mill Studios delivering 1-to-1 social media sessions — and they remain some of my favourite working days.

Banks Mill has always been full of brilliant creative businesses, so every visit meant interesting conversations, new ideas, and helping people figure out how social media could work for them (without the overwhelm!).

And of course… there was always a very welcome mug of tea waiting too ☕️

Looking back now, those sessions were such a lovely reminder of how many talented people are building amazing things right on our doorstep. It was a real privilege to play a small part in their journeys.

Sometimes the best work memories aren’t the big events — they’re the chats across a desk, a notebook full of ideas, and a proper brew.

A little trip down memory lane today… ✨

Back in April 2015, we hosted one of our Sociable Birds events in this gorgeous venue — a room full of warm lighting, great conversations and brilliant local businesses coming together.

Sociable Birds was always about exactly that… people connecting, sharing ideas, swapping stories and supporting one another. No hard sell, just a relaxed space where conversations could naturally take flight.

Looking back at these photos brings back so many lovely memories of the people, the laughter and the collaborations that started around those tables.

It’s funny how a room, a moment and a group of people can leave such a lasting impression.

Do you remember being there...

Looking back through 15 years of photos and content has been quite the trip down memory lane this week.

Back in 2013, SocialMyna packed a bag and drove to Snowdonia, Wales to work with a brand new client. The goal? Helping them understand how being online — and telling their story well — could bring new people through their doors.

It was a brilliant reminder that social media has always been about people, places and stories, not just posts.

That same year we also found ourselves in Liverpool, presenting at the very first IHUK Conference, courtesy of the Independent Hostel Guide. Standing in front of a room full of hostel owners talking about social media… when many businesses were only just starting to explore it.

Looking back now, it’s amazing how much the digital world has evolved — but the heart of what we do hasn’t really changed.

🙏Great stories.
🙏Real businesses.
🙏And helping people feel confident showing up online.

More memories from the SocialMyna archives coming soon… 🐦✨

March already feels monumental… 💛
Yesterday, on the 1st, I celebrated 15 incredible years of trading — something I’m so proud of and deeply grateful for.
And on the 31st, I’ll close this chapter with my final day of trading.

Fifteen years of conversations, creativity, clients, lessons, laughter and growth. What a journey it’s been.
This month is about celebrating the milestone… and honouring the ending ✨

The last Friday of February… and what a quietly full month it’s been.

There’s been planning, reflecting, tidying up loose ends and looking ahead to a March that feels pretty significant for us. Sometimes growth isn’t loud — it’s thoughtful. It’s in the conversations, the decisions, the “what do we want next?” moments.

As we head into the weekend, we’re holding that in-between feeling. Proud of what’s been. Open to what’s next.

If February has felt a little fast, a little thoughtful, or a little transformative for you too — you’re not alone.

Here’s to finishing the month gently and stepping into March with intention ✨

Happy Tuesday 💛

There’s something about a bright, fresh workspace that just makes everything feel a little more possible, isn’t there?

The week’s properly underway now. The Monday rush has settled, the to-do list is (hopefully) a little clearer, and today feels like a good day to quietly get things done. No big fanfare. No dramatic announcements. Just steady progress.

We’re spending today doing what we love most — shaping words, refining ideas, and helping content feel a little more you and a little less “just another post.”

If your desk looks anything like this right now… coffee nearby, notebook open, brain ticking away… you’re in good company ☕✨

What’s on your screen this Tuesday? 💬
