🎉 The Happy Learning Hub Turns ONE! 🎉

Although I’ve been a teacher and tutor for many years, it suddenly hit me that this October marks the official one-year anniversary of The Happy Learning Hub! 🌈

What a year it’s been - a year of learning, growth, meeting amazing families, and seeing so many children gain confidence and love their learning. 💡

I feel so incredibly lucky to be doing a job I truly love. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey - to the families I work with, to those who’ve shared kind words, recommended me, or simply cheered The Happy Learning Hub along the way. Your support means so much. 🌍

Here’s to another year of curiosity, confidence and happy learning! 🥳

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for coming along to this morning’s first Happy Home-Ed Hub session. We had a brilliant turnout with 10 children (aged 4–13) and their adults joining in.

From the chats I had and the feedback shared, it’s clear that the open-ended activities worked really well — the outdoor space, creative tasks, Lego building and time to socialise were all especially popular. I’ll definitely be building on those in future sessions.

We also had some exciting suggestions about creating podcasts and films, which I think could be a fantastic way to explore ideas together. Many people also mentioned that this group felt a little more “grown up” than other groups they have attended which might be helpful to those considering if they attend.

I’m also excited to say that we now have a volunteer to teach chess, so I’ll finally get the chance to learn too!

To help keep the calm and welcoming atmosphere that worked so well today, I’ll be keeping sessions on the smaller side. It was lovely to see families coming from very local areas such at Stondon and Clifton as well as a little further afield. Thanks again for making our first session such a positive one — I’m already looking forward to the next!

🎥 Free Cinema in November 🎥

This is a free film festival in November which is open to all Home Educators (and schools). Many local cinemas taking part including Letchworth, Stevenage, Cineworld Luton and Vue Bedford.

Look out for the Cycling Tour of Britain coming through Shillington, Stondon, Henlow, Shefford and the area today!

It starts about 11.30am in Milton Keynes. Lots of great learning opportunities including mapping, times, learning about performance sports and excitement!

Thanks to such a brilliant response, the first session of The Happy Home-Ed Hub on Wednesday 10th September is nearly fully booked – just 1 space remains!

It’s really important to me that we keep this group small, cosy and supportive, creating a positive environment for children to learn and grow.

✨ September Reset ✨

As someone who’s spent most of their life working to the rhythm of the academic year, I know all too well the feelings that come with the 1st of September.

As a teacher, I often heard how “lucky” I was to have six weeks off (best not to get me started on that one! 😉). But truthfully, one of the biggest challenges was always the transition - moving from rest, family time, and comfortable environments, back into structure, routine and the unknown.

I loved returning to see colleagues and friends but the shift in pace could feel overwhelming.

So, if this season feels a little heavy, remember: be kind to yourself and your family. One step at a time. One day at a time. 🌿

At The Happy Learning Hub, September is a chance for children to pause, breathe and reset. A time to celebrate what they’ve already learned, remind themselves of their strengths and build the confidence they need for the year ahead. 💛

Thanks to a lovely reminder from one of my clients (you know who you are! 😊), I’ve just updated my availability for online tutoring on the website. You can now check and book your first session directly online again! Existing clients can book or change sessions on the portal.

Things are really busy at the moment (thank you all! 💛), but I always try to be as flexible as possible. So if it looks like there’s no time available, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I may be able to shift things around or add you to the waiting list in case a spot opens up.

🌟 **New Home Ed Hub Launching in Stondon!** 🌟

Calling all home-educating families in the Bedfordshire/North Herts Area!

I'm excited to announce the launch of a brand new **Home Ed Hub** starting this September – a friendly, engaging space for home-educated children to connect, explore and learn.

🗓 **Starting:** Wednesday 10th September
🕙 **Time:** 10:00am – 11:45am
📍 **Location:** Stondon Community Centre, SG16 6QB (near Hitchin & Shefford)

This weekly session is designed for children attending **with a supporting adult** and will be designed with creative, hands-on, and thought-provoking activities tailored to a range of ages and interests - suitable for children of school age from 4- 14.

👩‍🏫 Facilitated by me – **Laura**, an experienced teacher, tutor and home educator. I'm passionate about supporting home-educating families in building a nurturing and inspiring learning community.
