Sunday 9th November cont'd

Our cadets represented themselves, our Squadron and RAFAC brilliantly at the Remembrance Parade in Clifton, Bedfordshire.

Particular thanks to those who performed readings at the Parade (FS Done and Sgt Rowland) and Cdt Gibson who stood in front of the congregation and read a passage during the Church service afterwards.

We were also proud of our Staff SNCO, Sgt Cowell who was honoured to be Parade Marshall, leading not only our Squadron but the other youth organisations including Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts

And finally , special acknowledgment of our supportive parents who I'm sure were as proud of them as we were!

Sunday 9th November

This morning our cadets and staff were taking time to remember all those in the Armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We are very honoured and proud to be invited each year to take part in the Clifton Remembrance Parade.

This day holds special meaning for us as we remember one of our former cadets, Jonathan Kitulagoda from Clifton who tragically lost his life whilst serving with the Rifle Volunteers during a tour in Afghanistan.

Jonathan is fondly remembered by everyone that knew him. He truly embodied selflessness, often going out of his way to help others and always with his infectious smile.

"We will remember them"

**IMPORTANT NOTICE**
As we approach Remembrance Parade, we’d like to remind our cadets to read the advice here. Following these tips will reduce the likelihood of a Blackout on parade.

We would particularly like to ask our parents to support us with points one and two, ensuring our cadets are properly ‘fuelled’ for our most important parade of the year.

Many thanks

Tuesday 28th October

PT night with Sgt Sarll. The RAF standard beep test was the main challenge this evening. It’s a great way to measure fitness and grow team spirit, but even more than that, it gives a true insight into part of what it takes to pursue a career in the forces.

Saturday 25th October

Today our cadets supported Royal British Legion - Shefford Branch with the Poppy Appeal at Morrisons supermarket in Shefford.

In attendance was our secret fund raising asset, Cdt Farmer 😁 With her formidable voice and confidence, the donation tins were rattling non stop!

Well done to all who supported as well as donated!

Thursday 23rd October

Something a little different this evening, with Sgt Sarll giving a real life exceptional example of leadership to inspire our cadets.

The Shackleton Endurance Expedition, led by Sir Ernest Shackleton, was one of the most remarkable stories of leadership and teamwork in history.
Shackleton set out to cross Antarctica, but his ship, the Endurance, became trapped and eventually crushed by pack ice in the Weddell Sea. Stranded thousands of miles from help, Shackleton’s mission shifted from exploration to survival.
Despite extreme cold, hunger, and isolation, Shackleton’s leadership kept his crew united and motivated. He maintained morale through optimism, clear communication, and empathy—sharing hardships equally and making decisive, adaptable plans. Shackleton also delegated responsibility effectively, using each man’s strengths to benefit the group.
After months on the ice, Shackleton led a perilous 800-mile open-boat journey to South Georgia Island to seek rescue. Remarkably, every one of his 27 men survived.
The expedition stands as a timeless example of resilient leadership, teamwork under pressure, and the power of collective endurance in the face of impossible odds.
