Here's the latest from Derbyshire Constabulary on yesterday's incident in Gamesley

| Investigations continue following an incident that saw two men seriously assaulted during an incident in Gamesley.

The incident took place at 4.20pm yesterday (25 Dec) after reports that a man had been assaulted in Bradwell Lea.

The man, who is in his late teens was taken to hospital but, after being seen by medical professionals, is expected to make a full physical recovery.

A second man, also aged in his late teens, attended Glossop Police Station shortly after the incident with stab wounds to his abdomen is also expected to make a full physical recovery.

A scene remains in place at an address in Hollins Close, Gamesley, and searches will be taking place today.

CCTV footage from the scene showed what appeared to be a firearm being discharged, however, so far, no firearm has been recovered.

Four people, three men and one woman, who were arrested in connection with the incident, remain in police custody.

Superintendent Adam Wilkins, said: “I understand that this will have been a concerning incident for the community, however, with all the information that we have so far it is understood that all those involved are known to one another and there is no wider risk to the public.

“Having seen the CCTV footage I can absolutely understand how shocking this will have been – which is why we moved quickly yesterday and armed officers arrested four people, who remain in police custody.

“I also want to make clear that as a community we will not stand for people using violence such as this on our streets – and I know that we have already received significant information from the public that is actively assisting our investigation.

“I would urge anyone who has not already contacted us to get in touch and help ensure that those responsible are brought to justice quickly.

“There will be an increased police presence in the area today, and anyone with concerns can speak with officers directly.”
