Beyond her public achievements, Manjula was a mother, friend, mentor, community leader, and a source of inspiration to many. We would love to include the voices of people whose lives she touched along the way.

Some lives quietly change history.

Manjula Sood MBE made history when she became the first Asian woman to serve as Lord Mayor in the UK, breaking barriers and serving her community with grace, dignity and unwavering commitment.

Her journey was one of courage, resilience and deep dedication to public service. Through her work, she inspired generations to believe that leadership knows no boundaries.

Manjula Sood passed away in December 2025, but her legacy continues to live on through the countless lives she touched and the path she created for others.

The Historical Mayor is a memoir that honours her remarkable life and preserves the story of a woman who helped shape British civic history.

A tribute to leadership, perseverance and service.

We’re deeply proud to share that Let The Fish Fly by has been longlisted for the Archer Amish Award.

For a small press, this is more than recognition. It’s affirmation.

It tells us that stories rooted in depth, intuition, culture, and inner worlds can travel far, that they can sit confidently on global platforms alongside powerful voices, even when they come from a small team driven by belief rather than scale.

When we started Author In Me, the intention was simple but bold: to create space for stories that might otherwise be overlooked. Stories that don’t always fit neat categories, but carry something essential.
