Unfortunately, we are now seeing this QR code parking scam in operation in our car parks in Buckinghamshire. Fraudulent QR codes have been found (and removed) on several cars parked in High Wycombe. We urge all motorists to use the app from the app store and to be extra vigilant. Please report any suspicious devices or activity to Thames Valley Police. Stay alert!

As many listeners of Wycombe Wanderers FC commentary via WanderersTV and Wycombe Sound 106.6FM will know, Phil has hung up his blue commentary headset — for now.

Phil has been the voice of the Chairboys for so long, and the first to bring live WWFC commentaries to Wycombe Sound. It’s no exaggeration to say: you leave behind huge boots to fill.

But Phil’s story with us started long before that. From Wycombe Hospital Radio to the very beginnings of Wycombe Sound, he's been with us since day one. An instrumental part of our journey bringing local radio back to South Bucks.
From countless shows to becoming our first Drivetime presenter — remember “Pole Position Drivetime” and the Penguin prize giveaways? (Other chocolate bars are available!) — Phil’s voice has become part of daily life in Wycombe.
We’ll miss those booming GOALLLL shouts down the line and the brilliant insight that came with them. But this isn’t goodbye — Phil, you’ll always be part of the Wycombe Sound team.

We are putting a full road closure in place on the A413 in Great Missenden (near Bubbles car wash) to allow a safe and thorough inspection of the void in the carriageway to be carried out. We do not know what has caused it but we are on site and prioritising this investigation.

A diversion is in place but, if possible, please take an alternative route, as this is likely to cause disruption and delays in the area.

Our Story

We began our first four-week RSL (Restricted Service Licence) broadcast from the Octagon shopping area of Eden on the 9th December 2013 with The Mayor of High Wycombe opening the station live on The Breakfast Show. Over the four weeks, a whole range of shows were broadcast live including multiple local debate shows, local sport shows, breakfast and drivetime shows.

We returned in 2014 for our second RSL. Located in BidCo’s Enterprise HQ; once again a whole range of shows were broadcast with The Mayor of High Wycombe, Eric Knowles, Colin Baker and many of the local businesses and personalities joining in over the 4 week period.

We returned for another f4 week RSL in 2015. Once again broadcasting on 87.9fm, online and via our App new for the third RSL. It was also our first year broadcasting from our own permanent studios. Many of the shows from the previous RSL’s returned and The Mayor of High Wycombe once again opened the station on the first day. A brand new radio drama set in High Wycombe was launched called ‘Made In Wycombe’ which was written especially for Wycombe Sound, it has a cast of 12 and a production crew trained by the BBC and ITV.
