Good afternoon from Castle Mead Radio. Today we bring you the very sad news that our dear friend and colleague Mike Leavy, a stalwart of Castle Mead Radio, former head of music' and presenter in his own right, passed away yesterday.

Mike was a lovely, gentle man, and was popular with all who had the privilage of knowing him. He had an extensive knowlege of music, and his show dedicated to Irish music received much praise and aclaim, and as everyone knows, he was probably Daniel O'Donnell's biggest fan, and he would always close his show with one of his tracks.

There is an enormous legacy of shows that Mike made here at Castle Mead, and we will continue to play those recorded shows, once we have had time to reflect on Mike's passing.

Everyone associated here at Castle Mead wishes to express our sympathy to Mike's close family and friends at this very sad time. Sleep easy Mike, and thank you for all your service to the hospital broadcasting network, not least here at Castle Mwad Radio serving Hinckley hospitals and health centre's.

Good morning from Castle Mead Radio on this damp Wednesday morning. As with all radio stations throughout the UK, we're very sad to hear about this awful news received yesterday. DJ Steve Wright, who presented programmes for BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2 for more than four decades, has died at the age of 69.
His family confirmed his death "with deep sorrow and profound regret" in a statement on Tuesday.

Steve Wright joined the BBC in the 1970s and went on to host the afternoon shows on Radio 1 and Radio 2. He also fronted television programmes for the BBC, including Top of the Pops.He was last on air on Sunday, hosting a pre-recorded special Valentine's Day edition of his Love Songs programme. He passed away on Monday.

Paying tribute to Steve on Radio 2 after his death was announced, an emotional Sara Cox said: "It's really hard to know what to say about the news of Steve Wright's passing, except we are all shocked and devastated and blindsided by this news. Steve was an extraordinary broadcaster, a really kind person, he was witty, he was warm, and he was a huge, huge part of the Radio 2 family, and I know my fellow DJs will all be absolutely shattered too."

Steve Wright's career at the BBC began when he started working as a clerk. His broadcasting career was launched in 1976, when he left the BBC to join Radio 210 in Reading. Four years later, he joined BBC Radio 1, presenting weekend programmes before launching Steve Wright in the Afternoon in 1981 - the show that would ultimately define his career.

A sad day for radio-another great of the broadcasting world has left us. Castle Mead Radio send our condolences to his family and friends on this truly sad news.

Morning all, and welcome to Castle Mead Radio. Today, exactly 33 years ago to the day, Britain's smallest hospital radio station was born, and has been broadcasting to staff and patients in Hinckley and District Hospital here on Mount Road, Sunnyside Hospital on Ashby Road, and also to Castle Mead and Hinckley Health Centres.

Sadly we have to vacate these studios to make way for a new Community Diagnostic Unit to be built on this site-very exciting news for Hinckley. Therefore we switch off our programme out put from here this afternoon, and then retstart from our new location on New Buildings in Hinckley.

We will keep you posted as to when we recommence broadacasting once we have everything plugged in and up working! Once back on air, our 'live' shows will return with our presenters- and we will still continue to broadcast to our current medical locations, not forgetting on-line at www.castlemeadradio.co.uk.

We're looking forward to our next adventure moving forward away from our studios here at hospital. In the meantime, we'll leave you with a photo (credit Hinckley District Past and Present) from Castle Mead's first day of broadcasting 33 years ago, and if you look carefully you will see a very youthful Paul Gardner and former presenters Ian Smith and Kenny Hague.

Have a good day everyone-see you on the other side!

Good morning from your Tuesday Team here at Castle Mead Radio, on a bright and sunny autumn morning. This afternoon at 2.00pm, there's another chance to hear a non stop music selection curated by our former Station Manager Pete Worthington. This show is packed with 120 minutes of pure nostalgia with great music from yester-year, with classic tracks from the 1950's,1960's and 70's.

Pete's featured artiste of the week is an American great-Glen Campbell. There are so many tracks to pick from this very popular singer, sadly no longer with us. There will be 4 of Glen's greatest hits in this show this afternoon.

There's also a classic tea break, and many more memory joggers from the past. If you like the songs that make you sing them all day and bring back all those happy memories from way back when, then this is the music mix for you.

Catch this great show on speakers in hospital and health centres, and on line at www.castlemeadradio.co.uk Take care everyone-and have a good day.
