Vintage East Yorkshire Loving all things vintage and mid-century in Hornsea, East Yorkshire. Celebrating our town’s unique heritage.

Hi everyone, we are sad to announce that, after 3 years, we have had to make the difficult decision to close our Hopfrog and Hornsea Pottery Design shop here in Hornsea, as from today.

We had a little dream once about being able to sell new products featuring the amazing designs of Hornsea Pottery here in our town, and we feel very proud to have been able to achieve that, starting with our glasses, and then to have been present at the beginning of a renewed era for the designs. We love Hornsea, we love midcentury and we’ve always collected Hornsea Pottery, however unfortunately our passion for Hornsea Pottery, and everything else we have done, has not been enough to get us through these difficult financial times, despite having recently had some of our best weeks and months in the shop.

We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us in our venture- it’s been a real labour of love for us. Also to have had the support of the original Hornsea Pottery families- the Rawsons and the Clappisons- and so many friends and former pottery employees here in Hornsea has meant so much. We are proud to have launched our Hornsea glasses here at the home of Hornsea Pottery 3 years ago, and we wish the new Hornsea collaborators around the country luck with their products going forward.

We’ve loved meeting all of our customers, both locals and people who have travelled to Hornsea to see us alike. Thank you to everyone who has popped in for a drink, come to our events, bought a gift or shopped with us online. It has meant the world. We have also worked and collaborated with some wonderful creatives, small businesses and lovely people, including , and , as well as our brilliant staff.

Unfortunately, the Bemora pop up next week is obviously cancelled, but the beer event in July is still going ahead at Hornsea Museum, so please continue to support the museum and buy your tickets from there.

We are sad not to be able to continue the Hornsea Pottery legacy here in Hornsea, but we are looking forward to pastures new. Thank you once again. 🧡

We have a treat for real fans of Hornsea Pottery who can’t make it here to the site where it was made… We have all sorts of information about how the pottery was manufactured in our shop and bar- including this film playing throughout the day. It’s a fascinating insight into a trip around the factory back in the day. If you can’t make it here to Hornsea, we now have the full video playing on our website www.hopfrog.co.uk. Here is a little snippet- take the full factory tour on our website! 🧡

Exciting news!! We are delighted to be able to share a unique opportunity to stay in the grounds of John Clappison’s former home in Hornsea over the Ceramics Festival and Hornsea Pottery Collectors AGM weekend!

Introducing a stunning new conversion of John’s former garage and workshop, providing luxurious accommodation for two available all year round. As well as the strong Hornsea Pottery connections, it is a truly beautiful place to stay, set on a gorgeous Victorian road in the heart of Hornsea, with its own private parking, and a stone’s throw from the town, beach, museum and mere.
