2025 was our 19th year as a company. In those 19 years we have always looked to make films about public interest issues and give new opportunities to those less experienced. In 2025 we premiered our new feature length documentaries OUR JOURNEY WITH LOBULAR BREAST CANCER and THIS IS YOUR CAPTAIN SPEAKING at the Raindance Film Festival in June. Susan Michaelis received a standing ovation but sadly left us a few weeks later on the 9th July but is always by our side. We are now working on a new short film ONE DAY NEXT WEEK and a new documentary about her remarkable and inspiring life.
As a company we our proud to support the Loraine Michaelis Foundation and the Lobular Moon Shot Project which has now become the most bi-partisan politically supported campaign in modern British history.
We made the micro short film A SWIPPED ILLUSION and gave Tegan Muggeridge her directing debut. We have completed filming the short comedy film WASHED UP and gave Ilayda Green her directing debut.
We have also completed filming our most ambitious short film ever, A Girl Called Alice Short Film and cast Tegan Muggeridge as the lead (who also co-wrote the screen play) alongside amazing actors such as Antonio Akeel, Rita Ramnani (she was the co-lead in A Dark Reflection), Flinn Andreae, Tomi May (who was also in A Dark Reflection), Steven Cooke, Wayne Edge,
Edwin De La Renta and Omar Mostafa who we first worked with in 2009 on our first feature film 31 North 62 East.
We believe we help make a difference to society and we could not do this without the support we get. We could list 100s of people and companies but we would like to highlight Tegan Muggeridge, the amazing cinematographer Ed White, sound recordist Luke White, Executive Producer Herb Jackson Jr of I ain’t no Herb Jackson Studios LLC, Canon UK for all their support, Senior Assistant Producer Freya Marley, Visit Horsham who always help us get the extras we need and South Lodge and Gravetye Manor for the amazing meals, memories and for looking after our cast and crew. BFI our Screen South for industry support. We look forward to 2026 and our 20th year in which we have some great projects planned. Happy Christmas and best wishes for 2026.

Film about the most supported campaign in the nation's history comes to Birmingham

The documentary film 'Our journey with lobular breast cancer' that tells the remarkable story of Dr Susan Michaelis and the Lobular Moon Shot Project, the most bi-partisan politically supported campaign in the nation's history, is set to screen at the prestigious Birmingham Film Festival on 16 November 2025 at 12:00

The Birmingham Film Festival is a 10-day international film celebration showcasing professional and independent films from around the world, comprising of a wide range of genres, styles, budgets and topics, all shown in our spectacular 350-seat auditorium.

Over 5,500 guests are expected through the doors at our events, making the Birmingham Film Festival the largest film and media event in the West Midlands.

The documentary film by Fact Not Fiction Films tells the story of Dr Susan Michaelis and the Lobular Moon Shot Project. A project started in May 2023 to get the Government to fund a 5-year £20 million research project into the basic biology of what is the 2nd most common form of breast cancer. Susan was one of the 1,000 people diagnosed globally every day with the disease when she was told in 2013, she had invasive lobular breast cancer. She had a tiny 1mm mark on her left breast, no lump, no pain and both a mammogram and ultrasound said all was OK but she in fact had 7cm of the disease. She was put on standard breast cancer treatments but in 2021, it spread to her spine. Realising that her disease had no specific treatment, she and her husband started the Lobular Moon Shot Project to try and change the future landscape for everyone diagnosed with the disease.

Currently 449 MPs support the project and are urging the Government and Health Secretary Wes Streeting, to prioritise research into what scientists call the forgotten cancer. Of the 10 MPs in Birmingham, Preet Kaur Gill, Ayoub Khan, Al Carns, Sir Andrew Mitchell and Jess Phillips have pledged their support the Lobular Moon Shot Project.

Volunteers of the Lobular Moon Shot Project have raised over £125,000 to get the infrastructure set up at the Manchester Breast Centre, to lead the research work which would be done nationally.

Susan passed away on the 9th July 2025, 5 days before the Lobular Moon Shot Project team met with the Health Secretary. Eight generic breast cancer treatments were unable to stop the disease progressing and ultimately taking her life. Despite the unprecedented MP support the Health Secretary has yet to prioritise the research.

The documentary reveals that the former Health Secretary had agreed in principle to fund the research. Research that would equate to £238 for every person diagnosed in the UK alone over the next 10 years. The film is nominated for 'Best Documentary' at the Birmingham Film Festival and tickets are free.
