MISHECK JERE BECOMES FIRST CHIPANGALI CDF LOAN BENEFICIARY TO FULLY REPAY LOAN AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

In a landmark achievement that is inspiring entrepreneurs across Chipangali Constituency, Mr. Misheck Jere -popularly known as Best Best Transporter or Kabango Innovations has successfully completed the full repayment of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) loan, becoming the first beneficiary to do so. Mr. Jere cleared the K200,000.00 loan in July 2025, two years ahead of the scheduled repayment deadline in 2027.

Mr. Misheck Jere received the CDF loan of 2022 in 2023 and strategically invested the funds into the transport business. His brand, now widely recognised in the district, has become synonymous with reliability, growth, and innovation. His success has not only propelled his business to new heights but has also showcased the real potential of the CDF loan facility when used effectively.

Speaking on his achievement, Mr. Jere expressed deep gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Zambia for introducing the enhanced CDF initiative. “The CDF loan transformed my life. It made it easier to enhence and grow my business. I am thankful for this opportunity, and I encourage others to take advantage of the program,” he said.

He further called upon fellow beneficiaries to honour their loan obligations. “Let’s repay our loans promptly so that more members of our community can benefit. Quick repayments mean more people can access funding, and together we can grow our local economy,” he added.

In recognition of his exceptional commitment and entrepreneurial spirit, the Chipangali Town Council extended its congratulations to Mr. Jere. The Acting Council Secretary- Ms. Faustina Manjombi stated that, “As a Local Authority we are proud of Mr. Jere's achievement. He has raised the bar and set an example for other beneficiaries. As a council, we remain committed to supporting local entrepreneurs and ensuring the full participation of our community in the CDF program.”

Mr. Misheck Jere’s early repayment has become a shining example of how the CDF can be a powerful tool for economic empowerment. His success is not only personal but also a beacon of hope and inspiration for many aspiring business owners in Chipangali and beyond.

Another Bulozi Tv Journalist Attacked in the Line of Duty

It’s been a thrilling and slightly bruising week for journalists at Bulozi Television, the ever-dedicated station reporting from the sandy heartlands and windswept plains of Western Province. Unfortunately, it seems their commitment to covering the truth has earned them a few unintended punchlines.

On Wednesday, a group of very passionate traders at Kashumba market didn’t take too kindly to Bulozi reporters filming their protest. The traders were already heated after local authorities insisted they move to a designated trading zone and apparently decided that the next thing to relocate to the emergency ward should be the journalists…. This drama was Captured on Camera as they were rolling.

Then came Thursday. One might think lightning doesn’t strike twice, but Bulozi TV would beg to differ. A taxi driver, fresh from a minor accident, decided that instead of exchanging insurance details, he’d exchange jabs with a Bulozi Female reporter who had the audacity to report on the scene a job she is paid to do.

Thankfully, nearby police officers did more than just watch. They stepped in, rescued the journalist, and escorted the amateur boxer (taxi driver) straight to the police station, presumably for a crash course in anger management.

GOVERNMENT UP TO DATE WITH RETIREE PAYMENTS- PRESIDENT HICHILEMA

President Hakainde Hichilema has re-affirmed Government’s devotion to social justice, as he check-marked the payment of retirees in good time.

Speaking when he launched the Invest in Zambia International Conference on July 16, 2025, the President said Government is up to date with payments to retirees.

“We are now near current on paying retirement benefits for those that worked for Government. Our retirees deserve dignity after years of service, and clearing these dues is part of our broader commitment to social protection,” he said.

President Hichilema said Government has stepped up efforts to attract skilled labour; and cut-edging technology that will accelerate job creation and national development.

He indicated that Government is also focusing on future generations by enhancing the country’s capacity to generate decent jobs through the importation of critical and scarce skills.

“ We are encouraging our investors to bring in capital, fairly priced capital. Bring in appropriate technology not second fiddle technology. The right technology supports industrialisation and value addition. If businesses are not viable we cannot create the jobs we want,”said President Hichilema.

“We are not bringing in skills to take away jobs from Zambians, but to transfer knowledge, if we have to import skills to create more jobs we will do so. We lost skills in this country such as plumbing, carpentry and many other Skills. Skills training should address the needs of the economy, we must be able to produce crafts people.”

COPPER QUEENS FOCUSED AND FIRED UP AS PAYMENTS COME IN REAL TIME

The atmosphere in the Copper Queens camp ahead of their crucial WAFCON quarterfinal clash against Nigeria this Friday is one of focus, confidence, and motivation, and it is not just about tactics and training. Off the pitch, things are finally being done right.

So far, players have already been paid in real-time for their results in the tournament, the draw against Morocco, and the win over Senegal. The bonus for the victory over DR Congo is expected to be settled in the coming days.

Before a ball was even kicked, part of the players’ camping allowances had already been paid out, a gesture that happened when the FAZ President travelled to Morocco, a clear sign of the high-level importance attached to this campaign.

The technical team has also been paid in full for all three group games, an equally important move that shows respect to every part of the team structure, not just those on the pitch.

And here is where it gets even more encouraging: it is believed that FAZ President Keith Mweemba personally contributed “out of pocket” support to the team ahead of the Morocco game, reinforcing his commitment not just in word, but in action.

All of this points to a new phase in Zambian football. Players now have no excuse; logistics are being handled, payments are on time, and leadership is present and supportive. This is the kind of environment that inspires performance and pride.

It also reflects a cordial and effective relationship between FAZ and the government. The atmosphere is clear, and it’s refreshing, a breath of fresh air in the football atmosphere.

As the Copper Queens prepare to face Nigeria, they do so not only with talent and belief but with the assurance that their efforts are being matched by serious administrative support. And for a football-loving nation, that’s something we should all be proud of.

RICE AND KAPENTA TURN INTO ALCOHOL

With a horsepower of 380, the truck only had 185km remaining to complete the 1100km trip from Nakonde to Lusaka when alert and high spirited ZRA officers in Kapiri Mposhi discovered that the Kapenta and rice declared at Nakonde border was in fact, had boxes of concealed alcohol.

Another truck purporting to be carrying shoes when in fact had concealed alcohol was intercepted in Kapiri Mposhi.

The total revenue loss from the smuggling activities is K750,000.

These incidences highlight the ongoing issue of smuggling and tax evasion in Zambia, with the ZRA actively working to combat these practices.

ZRA has been increasing its efforts to curb smuggling, particularly in areas bordering neighbouring countries where such activities are prevalent.

The Authority has deployed additional resources, including increased staff and surveillance technology, to monitor entry points and address vulnerabilities. ZRA also encourages public participation in reporting suspicious activities.

32 CDF LOAN BENEFICIARIES DRAGGED TO COURT

Zanis

The Mpika Town Council has taken 32 various groups to court for failing to pay back the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) loans they obtained in 2022.

The development was disclosed to ZANIS in Mpika by Council Public Relations Officer Mushota Mpundu.

Mr Mpundu said the 32 groups obtained Constituency Development Funds (CDF) loans worth over K2 million in 2022.

He pointed out that so far 22 groups from the 32 loan defaulters have since appeared before the Mpika Magistrate Court for mention and the remaining 10 groups will appear in court next week.

He said the loans are a revolving fund; hence, the need for all those who obtained CDF loans to pay back on time in order to enable others to benefit from the funds.

Meanwhile, Mpika District Commissioner David Siame said that the community must also understand that CDF loans are not free money, the money must be paid back with interest of 5 percent.
