Eight years ago! 🎈
The hardest thing I have EVER done.
Going from one child to three.
Ten days after moving house.
Five weeks earlier than expected.
Very little in the way of family support.
A five-year-old who still needed me.
And a partner working shifts - hands-on when he was home, but impossible when he wasn’t.
Some days felt endless.
Heavy.
Like I was just about holding it all together - but it could break at any moment.
Some memories will stay with me forever.
Living in the bedroom with the twins while my partner fought off a sickness bug.
Watching my son’s colour fade, his little body slower to respond, then suddenly being rushed to A&E, where he stopped breathing.
Wrestling two newborns into snowsuits, loading up bags, finally heading for the door - only for one (or both) to need a complete outfit and nappy change.
Back to square one.
The simplest tasks felt like climbing a mountain.
There were days I thought, I literally cannot do this.
Not because I didn’t want to - because it felt physically and emotionally impossible.
But I’m here.
Eight years later.
And what I know now is that you can do what you think is impossible.
Even when it really doesn’t feel like you can.
I don’t think you go through something like that and come out the same person.
And while running a freelance marketing business has its challenges,
It’s nothing compared to those early years with my now eight-year-old twins.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done, and what has it taught you?
