A little Christmas magic landed at Dogs Trust on Monday! 🎄🐾

A police carrier packed full of donations from Police staff and officers rolled up to the shelter — warm blankets, cosy beds, tasty turkey treats, and loads of food for the dogs. Basically, everything to make their a bit brighter. ❤️

This is the second year running that Inspector Andy Robinson has rallied donations from across the force to help his local shelter. And it follows him hitting an incredible £20,000 fundraising milestone in November!

Inspector Robinson started his fundraising journey back in 2012 with his huskies, Thor and Loki. After sadly losing Thor to cancer in 2024, and with Loki now too frail for long charity walks, he’s more determined than ever to keep their legacy going.

Insp Robinson said 🗣️ “It matters so much to me that what I started with my boys keeps going, even when they can’t anymore.

“The support from colleagues for Thor and Loki’s Christmas Wish is heartwarming. You think people might bring in the odd tin of dog food to donate – but the donation points just overflowed. They actually became a bit of a trip hazard!

“I’ve been a Local Policing Inspector in for 3 years now, so I feel a big sense of responsibility for the welfare of the area as a whole.

“People have to give up their dogs for all sorts of reasons – and I can imagine for so many people that’s a truly heartbreaking decision to make. I hope seeing these donations will give those people a little bit of comfort, knowing the dogs will at least have a happy Christmas.

“The work The Dog’s Trust do is incredibly important, and I’m grateful to be able to play a small part, in the name of my own boys, in supporting it.”
