Well, you lot have been busy! 😂❤️

We have now completely SOLD OUT of both:

A huge thank you to everyone who has bought a jar and supported these fantastic local honeys and beekeepers. 🐝❤️

The good news is that we’re hoping to have Daisy Nook back in stock next week! 🎉🍯

🍯 Well… that was annoyingly close! 😂

I’ve had a customer order the equivalent of 10 jars of honey in one big jar.

I had what I thought was the perfect jar for the job, I had to prop it up the fit the jar under it 🪜 then I filled it right to the top…

2225g.

The order? 2270g.

Yep… I’m 45g short! 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

So, the search for a slightly bigger jar begins!

It has also made me realise that some of you might not know that you can order different quantities and specific weights of honey directly from me.

Want a bigger jar? No problem.

Need a specific amount? Just ask!

I’ll always do my best to sort something out for you… although occasionally I might get the maths slightly wrong! 😂🐝🍯

👀 And as for what someone needs 10 jars’ worth of honey in one giant jar for… you’ll have to wait and see!

I’ve got a new client with some really interesting ideas, and hopefully in a few weeks you’ll get to see exactly what this honey is going to be used for! 🍯👀🐝

Meet Percy - our Little Owl.
He’s 14 weeks old, fully grown and he’s been with us for 3 days now. Settled in really well and is an absolute joy to just watch and interact with, the kids love him and Rebecca is besotted!!
he’s very inquisitive of the neighbours and surprisingly quite chilled when I’vehad to go in his aviary. He had anklets fitted the day before we picked him up, unfortunately theyd been fitted too tight. He seemed fine this morning but by the afternoon his left ankle had swollen up 😢
The little guy didn’t kick up a fuss when I cut them off and just let me do it, he hasn’t stopped putting weight on it or gripping with his talons. We’re going to give him the best life we can! - this isn’t a great start but it’ll be me who fits his next set of anklets !!..!!
He was reared in captivity so can never be released - although he will have the opportunity to fly away daily. He’s also got more certificates than a pedigree dog 😂 honestly, buying a car is easier.
He might join us on a few beekeeping experience days next year 🦉 🐝

Today was a stark reminder of how quickly things can go from good to bad.

A coupe of weeks ago as I’m full bee suit, with my head in a hive - a Harris hawk landed in front of me 😮 it had Jesses on so was obviously captive and being flown… well today before I put my bee suit on - it came back and me and Jasper got to have a chat with the lovely couple who were flying it. Although Jasper kept his distance.
Such a majestic animal and Another amazing experience in my beekeeping journey 🤩 🙌🏼

💥 THE MATLEY HONEY ‘FLU-BOMB’ 💥

🐝🍯 The flu season is approaching so I’ve made something with a bit of a kick to combat it

I’ve taken a big jar of our TURRETS honey and added a whole load of 100% organic ingredients, all sourced locally from one of our stockists - 5 A Day Stalybridge

And each ingredient brings something different to the party:

🧄 Garlic – traditionally used for immune support and its natural antimicrobial properties.
🫚 Ginger – often used to soothe the throat and support digestion.
🌶️ Chillies – contain capsaicin and can give that lovely warming, sinus-clearing kick! 🔥
🟡 Turmeric – contains curcumin, known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
🍋 Lemons – a great source of vitamin C and bring a lovely fresh acidity to the mix.
⚫ Black pepper – contains piperine, which helps the body absorb curcumin from turmeric.

And of course…

🍯 Matley Honey – naturally soothing for the throat and bringing everything together in one rather interesting jar!

It’s now all mixed together and will be left to ferment for 48 hours, allowing all those flavours to develop 🤤

Take half a teaspoon daily - I’m putting mine in my morning brew ☕️ 👌🏼

I’m not claiming this will cure the flu — it’s simply a traditional-style honey preparation made with some pretty interesting natural ingredients.

There will be ONLY A LIMITED QUANTITY, and it will be PRE-ORDER FOR COLLECTION ONLY at £10 per Jar

🐝🍯 A LITTLE BOX OF GOLD… AND A BIG ACHIEVEMENT! 🍯🐝

There’s currently one super packed with honey sitting here… although the bees haven’t quite finished the job yet! 😂

It’s not fully capped, so while the hives are having their mite treatment, I’ve taken it off for the week (so it doesn’t taint the honey) Once treatment is finished, it’ll be going straight back on so the girls can carry on dehydrating the honey and sealing those cells. 🤞🏼🍯

And yes… it’s only one super.

But this is my first year, and there’s a bit of context behind that small harvest.

The bees have had to draw all their comb from blank foundation, which takes a huge amount of energy and honey. 🐝

On top of that, we’ve just come through around seven weeks of drought, so nectar hasn’t exactly been flowing freely! 🌧️❌

And perhaps most importantly…

This is from just ONE colony — out of the 12 colonies I now have. 🐝🐝🐝

So while it might look like a small amount of honey, to me it represents a year of learning, hard work, mistakes, surprises and watching the bees build everything from scratch.

Many new beekeepers don’t get a honey harvest in their first year at all.

So I’m pretty bloody proud of this little super. ❤️🍯

🐝🍯 ONE YEAR OF KEEPING BEES! 🍯🐝

Well… that’s my first full year of beekeeping with my own apiaries and hives done! And what a year it’s been. ❤️

When I started, I had absolutely no idea where this journey would take me. I certainly didn’t expect to be rescuing swarms, raising Queens, setting up new apiaries, learning from some brilliant beekeepers, hosting beekeeping experiences, producing honey and beeswax products, and taking an observation hive to events!

There have been some amazing highs, plenty of lessons learned, a few moments where the bees have completely outsmarted me 😂 and more than one occasion where I’ve wondered whether I keep bees… or whether the bees keep me!

But that’s what makes it so addictive. There is always something new to learn.

I’m incredibly proud of how far the bees, and I, have come in just one year — and I’m even more excited about what year two might bring.

More bees. More learning. More adventures. Hopefully lots more honey… 🍯
