Congratulations to the Scottish Women’s Institute on your 100th Anniversary.

Today is a bit special ❤️

This is my 93-year-old mum, absolutely glowing at the Scottish Women’s Institute 100th Anniversary celebration lunch. She joined back in 1949. Imagine the stories she holds and she was over the moon to receive a special invitation for today’s event.

Seeing her sitting, enjoying her lunch, catching up and being honoured for a lifetime of contribution… is very special indeed. 🥰

Here’s to strong women, to community, to resilience and to the generations who paved the way long before us. And here’s to Mum still showing up, still smiling, still inspiring 💛

Happy 96th birthday Illogan WI

35 Members of Illogan WI celebrated 96 glorious years last evening having dinner together at Tehidy Golf Club.

Jerusalem was sung followed by a tasty meal. Pretty birthday cupcakes given to all attendees to take home. 🧁

The bumper Christmas raffle was won by Joyce Holdaway - lucky girl! ☘️

We now look forward to a busy 97th year and beyond 🎂🎁💐🥂💝🎈

This afternoon members of Illogan WI led by president Anne Rowe, attended the Royal British Legion’s parade from the RNL Illogan HQ to Illogan Church for a service of Remembrance. A wreath was laid at the cenotaph outside the church by our president.

Illogan WI’s walk last month was our last planned one for this year, plans for next year are well underway. We had a very enjoyable circular walk from Perranuthnoe via Trenow Cove and ended with a delicious lunch at The Cabin.

Fantastic weather for Illogan WI’s monthly walk today. A circular from Mawnan Smith to Maenporth and back. A perfect day

Today was the day 27 Illogan WI members along with a couple of friends took a journey to St Ive near Liskeard to visit Emily’s House.
Emily Hobhouse was an incredible lady who helped women & children and people of colour, who were made homeless and suffered hardship & starvation during the Boer War in the early 1900’s in South Africa despite opposition from the British and South African governments. She was the daughter of the vicar of St Ive where she grew up. The Rectory has been beautifully restored along with the grounds & gardens & a war museum built in tribute to her tireless work. Well worth a visit, there is a superb cafe & shop too. An excellent time was had by all. A huge thank you to everyone involved with arranging the visit & transport today. 🥰👏🙏🚌

Last weeks meeting for Illogan WI was an Art Evening where members all had a go at painting on glass guided by Lynn.
Beautiful pieces of work were produced and great fun was had by all.
