February took us back out into our local fells, this time to cover Montane’s self-supported Winter Wainwrights Record attempt by one of the sport’s loveliest people, Tom Hollins.

In a self-supported attempt, runners can use pre-arranged supply drops and public facilities, but they're not allowed a support crew. From a filming perspective, this presented a unique challenge: how do you capture the story of a round or FKT attempt without being there every step of the way? We had to find new, creative ways to tell the story and convey the scale of what Tom was undertaking—without being with him 24/7, which simply wasn’t realistic.
Fortunately (or unfortunately for Tom), the weather helped paint a vivid picture. He faced storms, gale-force winds, blizzards, and whiteouts—conditions that truly highlighted the enormity of his challenge.
Our aim was to capture what it feels like to be alone out there for so long, pushing yourself to the absolute limit. And luckily, Tom’s inner monologue gave us a powerful window into that experience.
