We are a community interest company based on the Lincolnshire coast. We are NOT a Council run or led project,
but a council supported project! Essentially, we promote and market rural and coastal Lincolshire in a positive light. HOW DOES LINDSEY COAST DO THIS? We operate a community radio project called Lindsey Online, which operates 3 radio services -
Lindsey Online / Onsite and Extra/Replay. Ons
ite is a commercial dance station during the day over the PA system of Fantasy Island offering a standard daytime output, at night specialist presenters take over bringing the best in more underground genres which we hope the dance fans will enjoy. Lindsey Onsite is a mixture of Kiss/Capital and BBC Radio 1 style programming with a local edge of local news with local dj and dance music production talent. It is planned that Onsite will webcast along side Online. Online is the higher aspiration station in certain respects, bringing the heavier weight community news and events guide to our listeners. At night, quality wide ranging specialist music genre programming is presented with high production values with invterviews and live sessions as often as possible. Extra/Replay is podcasting service, taking the best of Online and Onsite and replaying between Midnight and 2am Monday-Saturday, excluding Wednesday. The best of the shows will be uploaded to mixcloud to enjoy as often as the listeners want to. We promote events on our social networking profiles and raise awareness of positive local community activism. We bring outside broadcasts from some of the major events in East Lindsey such as ... Skegness Lifeboat Day and East Kirkby Aviation Heritage Day. We are all hard-working volunteers and the management work with the volunteers to instill life skills, to build confidence and make them a success with their life goals! LINDSEY COAST AND OUR SHAREHOLDERS? Lindsey Coast holds the main 40% shareholding with the Managing Director and founder, Henry Wright, who delivers the projects through the conduit of interesting and exciting community radio content with the loyal volunteer presenters. The project is now 2 years old, is currently in it's 3rd phase of development and, is experiencing great success of 1200 listeners a week, whereas most online community stations have 600-1000 a month. This success is due to Henry's full time commitment, whereas most community radio projects have absentee management, which as we've proved there is little support or motivation for success among the volunteers. The way Lindsey Coast delivers the project, being regulated and monitored by Volunteering England and following the Ofcom Community Radio Code, means we are doing things the right way. We have worked closely with the Lincolnshire Community Volunteering Service ensuring our procedures and policies are up to date and they provide enhanced CRB checks and certificates for £5 to each of our volunteers, something which we take very seriously! Lindsey Coast was approached by Fantasy Island management in April 2012 and offered the company a lifeline, to be honest the station was unsustainable at their old studios with rising costs making it more challenging to deliver live shows. Lindsey Coast was offered space in the form of two studios, office and reception in the Food Court of Fantasy Island in return for helping Fantasy Island share their 2 million plus customers a year with the local area, rather than keeping them onsite just for themselves. Fantasy Island will manage and maintain the space and Lindsey Coast will manage the people and equipment. Fantasy Island will also support Lindsey Coast in any way it can to make and share the success! Also, Scallywags, the live performance space is available for gigs and parties with a small entry charge to pay for the performers, event promotion and raise money for the station and Lindsey Coast's favourite partner community projects and local charities. Fantasy Island will also assist with compatible promotion campaigns and provides Lindsey Coast with Security, First Aid including Health and Safety Coverage. Fantasy Island are now 30% shareholders in the project and we greatly appreciate their involvement and support of the project! Fantasy Island provide a Live Events and Site Liaison Director, James Parker and we are very excited to have him on-board! Skegness Partnership are the other main shareholder in the project with 30% controlling interest, they facilitate community funding, advise on good governance and give us access to events they manage on behalf of Skegness and environs. Skegness Partnership is a philanthropic group of commercial and community organisations who exist to improve the area for tourism and commercial objectives, thus, improving lifestyle standards and employment opportunities for residents. We are proud to have this group involved and we thank them for the opportunities they are bringing to the station through their representative Director, Steve O'Dare. Fantasy Island and Skegness Partnership will not involve itself in editorial control in any form, though as anyone has the right, they can and will voice their opinions regarding content and, Lindsey Coast will always listen and take the appropriate action. LINDSEY COAST AND OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS? Our Community Partners are here to enable exciting content of our community radio service and reciprocal support and promotion of events and objectives. East Lindsey District Council have supported the project from the outset, enabling community funding and giving us access to their community asset, the Embassy Theatre, which we are constantly promoting and working with to provide exciting content. The Project would like to publicly thank James Gilbert, Press Officer for giving us his continued support with the local councillors, especially John Byford who very kindly gave us £1500 of community funding in December 2011 for studio broadcast equipment, and, we thank him so much for his support! Through this partnership we are the community media partners of East Lindsey Live, the SO Festival and the Embassy Theatre! Lincolnshire County Council became community partners soon after, through their Press Officer, Ethan Thorpe who is has a portfolio which is compatible with our objectives, we work with him regularly to provide interviews on county-wide relevant issues, events and objectives. On Lincolnshire, which is the group of organisations enabling high speed broadband asked us in Summer 2012 to become Community Champion of the project, we accepted graciously, and we are very proud to serve Lincolnshire in this most necessary role! The Sam Newsom Centre, Lincolnshire's Centre Of Music Excellence, an integral part of Boston College, has provided many ambassadors among it's students and it provides many musicians, performers and DJs for exciting content and, is one of our links into the youth community locally! We are very proud to give these talented young people an outlet for their talent and work, build confidence and prepare them for public performance! Sam Newsom had a vision and what a vision, the centre mentors and supports young musicians in all areas of production and performance, the ethos creates a special creative atmosphere! It has also provided us with our Company Secretary, Kerry Smith, who is their Administrator, a popular choice among the volunteers! The Northcote Heavy Horse Centre in Great Steeping, was an early partner with the project, providing outside broadcast opportunities and reciprocal support and promotion. It is a great tourist destination for all heavy horse lovers, and shows the skills and the heritage of working with these amazing animals in an agricultural environment, something which is experiencing a resurgence of interest with environmental challenges becoming so important. WHAT WILL LINDSEY COAST DO IN FUTURE? To continue community radio online and on FM locally to East Lindsey and, bring our listeners the best rural and coastal Lincolnshire has to offer. To continue to assist OnLincolnshire and raise awareness of their campaign to bring high speed internet! To continue to work with our community and business partners to extend the holiday season
