πŸ’™ HOW TO FOLD LIKE A PRO πŸ’™

- BUCKLE CARRIER -

A popular carrier and super simple to fold.
This works for all the Tula models apart from the half buckle (vid coming)

Once you know how it's so quick and easy, I'm not doing anything fancy, just simple folding which is handy for popping in a bag or under a pram.

If you are not using it regularly then adjust the base and panel to the widest setting to prevent friction and folds.

How do you fold your slings? What do you want to see next?

🩷 HOW TO FOLD LIKE A PRO 🩷

- RING SLING by

I get asked so often how I fold everything to make it so neat, so I finally had time to make you a wee series.

Once you know how it's so quick and easy, I'm not doing anything fancy, just simple folding which is handy for storage.

This technique will work on a gathered or pleated ring sling, it will just look slightly different.

πŸ’› MOMCOZY WEE SNUG πŸ’›

This is the Momcozy 'newborn' option.
It's advertised from 0-3Months and for 7-25lbs.

πŸ‘‰πŸ»It's semi adjustable as it can scrunch in at the waistband but the panel height doesn't adjust.

πŸ‘‰πŸ» It's a cross strap carrier, the padding is quite firm and angled in a way that creeps up your neck.

πŸ‘‰πŸ»The waistband is quite thick and firm which could be uncomfortable on a postpartum body.

Trying this with a newborn doll, I don't think this is going to be suitable for newborns. The doll is more solid and not curled up like a real newborn. The best fit I could get came to just below babys ears, ideally I would like it a bit lower.

I would say this would be ok for a high centile newborn or a month old.

I won't be keeping this one, it was just to review, but ask me anything.

It's better than their other carrier, but I'm not a fan of the brand and there are still much better alternatives.

⚠️ THIS IS NOT SAFE ⚠️

Sadly this is something that I saw recently so I thought I'd share.

If you have this carrier, then it's always best to adjust BEFORE baby goes in. But this is a quick fix.

At the start, you can only see the top of babys head, the panel is at full height and covering baby completely. This is a huge risk of asphyxiation, not to mention the slack that would allow baby to slump.

How we fix it... Loosen the side straps first, then fully shorten the panel with the adjusters on either side. You want the top of the panel to sit at babys neck, we want to see those ears!!
You can adjust the knee straps for more leg support too - this is comfort and not a safety issue.

Then to prevent the straps being too close to babys face and parents neck - pull the straps away from the neck. Try to lower the cross on your back for more comfort and fan the shoulder straps.

Now you can see that it fully safely fits baby and supports their natural position.

⚠️ And remember, when you get a new sling, please please read instructions, check over the carrier or reach out for support.

😁 FLIP IT RIGHT 😁

Did you know that the way you flip your wrap can affect how secure or comfy your carry will be?

A secure closed flip has the outside hem under the top vertical hem. This makes it more secure and stays in place.

An open flip is not as secure and will become slack when you lift your arm. The outside hem goes on top of the vertical hem.

If you want your passes to stay secure especially with a wiggly baby, then try the secure flip, it can make a big difference.

πŸ’” GOODBYE MY BOY πŸ’”

Yesterday we said Goodbye to my first baby Ozzy, the reason why I started carrying.

It's been a hard few weeks and going to take some time. I'm taking a few days off to deal with the loss and help the kids through it.

We gave him the best last day with swimming and a big steak.

Please give those fur babies a big squeeze, it's a huge loss.

🌈We got a beautiful double rainbow afterwards and it was perfect. Run free over the rainbow bridge my beautiful boy.

Huge thank you to Hart in the Highlands Photography for some beautiful photos to treasure.

🀯 MYTH BUSTING MONDAY 🀯

" How long can my baby be in the sling for"

A common question asked by most people when they start to carry.

Many people ask this because of the limitations on car seats.

So let's discuss why there is a time limit on car seats first.

πŸš— When in a car seat, baby is in a position that can cause breathing difficulties due to the position.

πŸš— Because of the semi upright position, babies head can fall forward causing them to slump and effect their airways.

πŸš— In the seated position, it can put pressure on a young spine during longer periods.

So what's different about a sling or carrier?

πŸ‘πŸ» Baby is fully upright with their head resting on your chest. Their face and airways are open and clear and the head is supported.

πŸ‘€ You are monitoring them closely at all times. When baby is in a car seat, they may be behind you in the car and not able to monitor them as closely. In the sling or carrier, you are able to glance down any time to check them.

πŸ‘ΆπŸ» Babys spine and body is fully supported with the sling/carrier and your body. There is no excess pressure on the spine or joints or back of the head.

🩷 So as long as baby is safely secure in the carrier, they are fed, changed and you are both comfy, then there is no time limit while carrying.

You will want to offer different positions to baby during the day, for example tummy time, held in arms, car seat, bouncer ECT.

But if baby just wants held, then enjoy those snuggles.
