I think I may have overstuffed today’s vase of cut flowers, but I just didn’t want to leave any blooms behind 💝

Minus temperatures recorded in the Cairngorms last night makes me think frosts here are not far away so the dahlias won’t be around for long 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well that solves that little mystery… holes dug in the wildflower meadow and a track through the long grass to the fence and beyond - we have a Badger - doesn’t seem very big so possibly an adolescent on the search for a new place?

This was not supposed to flower until next year 🤷🏻‍♀️

Angelica sylvestris ‘Ebony’ is a biennial bought as a tiny seedling this year and I thought it would take all this year to grow bigger ready to flower next summer so I didn’t give it the space it deserved.

Heyho, plenty of seed to grow more for the future 💜

Another great day for the butterflies… this time they are enjoying the helichrysum (everlasting flowers) as most of the Buddleia are over.

One of the few flowers that I would consider a true blue - Gentiana asclepiadea - Willow Gentian 💙

Unlike its rockery stalwarts, this plant stands almost a metre tall and is great for late summer/early autumn interest in the border… although it is getting a bit battered by the high winds today.

A lovely climber for late summer and into autumn is Clematis purpurea plena elegans 💖

Rich purply pink double flowers.

Doesn’t leave a mess of old brown stems when it finishes flowering because you just chop the whole thing down to about 18 inches and it starts with fresh growth in the spring 👍
