A little panic this morning when I realised we are starting to get proper snow, not just a sprinkling, and the roof was still on the fruit cage 😱
Even with this little snow the net was starting to sag…last time I forgot and it snowed the net touched the floor and it was a mega job getting the snow off before the poles bent! 😱😱
Luckily hubby got the net off before the thundersnow started…LOOK AT THE COLOUR OF THAT SKY! 🌩️🌨️
But he did choose one of the blizzards to do it in 🥶🥶🥶🥶 timing is everything 💙

No…. the feral cats never bother the garden birds 🤷🏻‍♀️

Looks like one of the kittens has a different idea 🤦🏻‍♀️

Had plenty of Sparrowhawks hiding in the honeysuckle archway, but this is a first.

My Scandinavian visitors have arrived, dozens of elusive Fieldfares and big bold Blackbirds feasting on windfall apples and rich red holly berries… no homegrown Christmas decorations for me 🤷🏻‍♀️and will the mistletoe berries survive?

Time to pick up the fallen leaves 🍂

I ignore the leaves on the borders, but not on grassy areas as they have a tendency to weaken the grass and over winter it turns to mud 🍁

I use the mower as it makes the job easier and chops the leaves so they rot quicker…why rake if you don’t have too? 🍂

I also remove them from pathways too… gravel turns muddy and weedy and paved paths get treacherous… I use a vacuum or brush for those 🧹

In year or possibly two, I will have a pile of wonderful leaf mould to use in potting mixes and snowdrop pots 🤎

It’s amazing how a south facing stone wall keeps the roses covered in flowers well into autumn 🍂

🌫️ Bit of a grey day here, the neighbours across the fields can hardly been seen.

🌫️ An eerily quiet day, no noise from the sheep or cattle.

🌫️ Garden birds are about… busy eating on the feeder but no chirrups or arguments.

🌫️ No flights in or out of Aberdeen, so no offshore helicopters or planes overhead.
