White Eagles Wargames Club

White Eagles Wargames Club Wargames Club in Ipswich, Suffolk. Meets fortnightly on a Sat night, see events tab for next meet. Table Top Wargames Club in Ipswich. Want to know more?

We are a long established Fantasy War-gaming club based at the 36th Ipswich Scout Hut on Hawthorn Drive. We meet once a fortnight from 18.30 until Midnight. Our stock games are Warhammer, Warhammer 40.000, Blood Bowl, Magic the Gathering and the Batman Miniature Game. We're also keen to try new games and if we don't play them now, we'd be quite happy to have a go! We have scenery, boards, dice tap

es, etc, etc, so all you have to bring are your books (we have access to nearly all of Games workshop’s rule books anyway) and your figures and there’ll be some one to play against. Drop us a line or call in.

In this episode, we start with a brief description of Warhammer and the World of Warhammer. Dhar give us a whistlestop tour of the entire world of Warhammer and looks at some of the factions not included within the game… for some reason, which Dhar keeps saying has to do with “context”. We hea...

Good afternoon all,
Good night last night, though I didn't take any pics...legs were hurting from my new exercise regime.....yeah - shocking ain't it!

Anyway, some old school Necromunda, Judge Dread, The Walking dead, Marvell CCG and Gaz and I did modelling and painting.

Don't get too excited, I didn't paint!
Instead Gaz was using contrast paints to paint his new Khemri Blood Bowl team whilst I sorted out and fixed up the Club's new Chaos Space Marine army which was very kindly donated by the amazing Richard.
Gaz and I reckon that we are looking at over 5000 points at 9th Ed points and config...so fecking awesome! :)

Anyway, the main point of this post is to introduce the returning Yearly membership and give you an update on costs for the hall:

Yep - it's happened, we have been given notice that the hall hire is going to be increasing to £45 for a standard session.
We have agreed that we will maintain the current £35 for 2023.

To this end and nicely in line with soe of your requests and the talk around the Council table, we are reintroducing the yearly option for club membership.

Yearly membership for 2023 works out as follows:
£80 for the whole year and can be paid either in a single payment or over 6 months.
Because we are already a few months into the year, membership this year is discounted to £56 which again can be paid either as a single payment or over 6 months.

You might be asking what you get for your membership:
1. We run 25 standard sessions a year, and with the membership you only pay for 20 of those sessions. That represents a 20% discount! :)
On the all day events we run for the club (non tournament days), instead of having to pay double you only have to pay the uplift (currently a full day is £6, so that would equate to £2)

2. Voting rights at the club council meetings, including the AGM

3. The ability to petition a club council meeting (This will require 10 signatures to call)

4. The knowledge that you are helping keep the club running, especially during this time when everything is getting more expensive.

There may be other benefits that we introduce going forward, for instance we used to give a 10% for the tournaments, and I'm sure we can sort that going forward too!

If you would like to take advantage of this deal, please do let me know, either via PM here, or in person at the next club meet.

Going forward to 2024, the membership rises to £100 for the whole year and again will be able to be paid over a period of time, most likely 5 monthly payments at £20 each month

Obviously we do not want to put our fees up, and it's been great with the hall hire as they have been able to resist putting up their cost until now, but now is the time.
This is a little sad for us as we have been at our current entry fee since we moved into the Scout hall, and I hate having to charge you guys more. Sorry...if I could keep things the same I would.

Tale of Gamers
Another post in the same day - that's rare for me (Alex).

List of rules for the tale of gamers:
1. Stage one is a 500 point legal army based on the 8th edition rules pre End Times, but including other sources. If you have an uncommon army you wish to play, please consult with me (Alex)

2. You have 3 months to source, model and paint the first 500 points - that gives you till the end of March to complete stage 1

3. All army lists must be submitted to me for checking before you get too far into this - lets say the end of February - a private message on Facebook is fine, or in person, or via Discord, you get the idea - just grab me when you can!

4. No army book named characters - sorry Sam!

5. Stage 2 will commence after we have had a night of battling with our new 500 points of fun and games and will last another 3 months, taking us to 1000 points by the end of June

6. Stage 2 can see you add to your current army, but not remove (You can split your units into smaller units if you wish, but you can not remove a unit entirely - you can change a hero or lord to be mounted though)

7. At the end of June, beginning of July we will have another evening of fun and games with the armies - might even make that one of the all day events for giggles!

8. Stage 3 and 4 might happen and will follow the same rules as Stage 2 - We will have a little chat amongst us

Good evening folks,
We have a slight change of plan for the next club meet.
Unfortunately we can no longer have the hall on the 28th January.

Fortunately we can have the hall 2 weeks in a row after that:
4th of February
11th of February

A new list for the evenings will be post shortly and please feel free to ask for tables on those dates! :)
