“Planet positive Calvados in a paper bottle, with one-fifth of the carbon footprint of glass, Avallen is made for eco-minded cocktail lovers.”

Buzzing to see our friends Avallen Spirits named one of the best bottles for a new generation of brandy drinkers in this The Three Drinkers’ article.
By pairing their craft spirit with our lightweight, sustainable paper-bottles, they’re showing exactly how innovation combined with heritage drives meaningful change and big impact.
To Avallen and all the winemakers rethinking bottles: thank you for proving sustainability doesn’t compromise quality - it amplifies it.

Brandy is incredibly versatile. Younger examples are fruit-forward and great for cocktails, while older expressions offer depth and complexity to rival whisky...

As Tesco trials 300,000 paper tubs for Cadbury Heroes across UK stores, we applaud this collaborative move toward cutting waste, improving recyclability, and driving circular packaging solutions consumers can trust.
At Frugalpac, this is exactly the kind of progress we’ve championed from the start. Our Frugal Bottle - made from 94% recycled paperboard and with a carbon footprint up to six times lower than glass - is used by 63 brands in 27 countries around the world, proof that high-performance, paper-based packaging is ready for mainstream adoption.
And as paper packaging becomes more visible on supermarket shelves, we’re proud to already be enabling the drinks industry to decarbonise at scale - providing technology that helps brands transition faster, with lower emissions and stronger consumer appeal. The message is clear: paper is no longer an experiment, it’s the future of packaging.

“Our products are very traditional… but it’s essential to develop offers more in tune with today’s demands. I found the paper bottle appealing - for its innovation, ecological value, and potential to reach new markets. The paper bottle could be a real solution.” - Winemaker, Château de Saint-Esprit

In our new film, La Bouteille qui Cartonne shows how a Frugalpac paper bottle cuts wine’s glass-driven footprint with ~84% lower emissions - same 75cl ritual, lighter impact.

Château de Saint-Esprit: same wine, new bottle option
~85g vs ~500g glass → cheaper, cleaner transport
Unbreakable → avoids the 1–2% breakage losses
Bag-in-box liner → no flavour change
360° print → stronger on-pack storytelling
100% recyclable (yellow bin; some councils separate shell/pouch)
Fits ~80% of use cases; scaling could save CO₂ roughly equal to Bordeaux’s metro area

Congratulations to our friends at Grounds for Good whose low-alcohol Welsh aperitif, Aperoffi, has won Gold at The Great British Food Awards 2025 in the low/no alcohol category - packaged in our Frugal Bottle.

Blended with its signature upcycled coffee grounds (or ‘coff’ in Welsh), Aperoffi is a fantastic example of how innovation and sustainability can come together to create a truly unique product.
We’re delighted to see another pioneering brand using the Frugal Bottle to reduce carbon , eliminate glass waste, and showcase what’s possible with circular design.

Congratulations once again to the team at Grounds for Good on this richly-deserved recognition.
