A project for Twixtmas - getting started on my mittens.

This was my crowdfund reward for backing the project to create yarn and products by collecting and combining the wool from several small farms around the London area. There are a number of different sheep breeds included.

Well done to Justine Lee and team for making the project happen.

I’ll share the final result when I get to it!

Lucky me! I won this gorgeous hand knitted wool hat and gloves set!

Thank you to Hayley at for running the raffle and to for donating the beautiful prize.

By further luck (fate?) the hat and gloves set were created by the wonderful crafters at , made from indigenous wool from the Himalayas - and of course I’ve been working with and Kullvi Whims this past couple of years as part of , as well as our recent wool event ‘Interwoven:Wool Across Borders’.

I am very proud to support Hayley’s work ensuring education for many young people who need it. Please do take a look and support too if you can.

Thanks to everyone involved - I will treasure my prize, especially as my recent project work has grown my awareness and love for such beautiful workmanship - just look at the gorgeous sheep design!

Nearly ready for a family Christmas (with one key person a long way away but, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, zoomable!).

The tree is up and the decorations applied. Our tree is now on its 36th Christmas and is also used annually as the Ipswich Fairtrade Group Tree at the tree festival - so it does a good stint!

One of my (many) quirks is to buy a bauble from different places I travel to, so there is now an eclectic mix - supplemented by the lovely glittery items the kids used to bring home from school each year. How they love to see them come out of the box again each Christmas ! (Not).

I am aware and grateful for my good fortune in having loved ones, peace and comfort around me this festive season. I hope you all are also looking forward to a positive and joyful time.

Merry Christmas.

VALUES.
We all have them — even if we bury them, override them, or talk ourselves out of them.
And when we’re not aligned with our values… we feel it.
A heaviness. A discomfort. A quiet “this isn’t right.”

This isn’t about judging anyone.
Life is complicated. Systems are complicated.
Sometimes survival pushes people far from what they truly believe.

But for most of us, even small steps toward living our values
make everything feel clearer.
Calmer.
More us.

If something feels off — pause.
Check in with your values.
They’re there to guide you.

September was exceptionally busy — I took part in a delegation, had two projects launch as part of the British Council’s New Landscapes exhibition, took part in ‘Crafting Design Futures’ run by , co-ran ‘Interwoven: Wool Across Borders’ with and attended many talks and events as part of London Textile Month, the World Design Forum and London Fashion Week.

Key takeaways/thoughts:

• How do we downstream craft, circularity and regenerative models into mainstream brands and businesses? - they have to be part of the conversation and see the benefit.

• How do we communicate the reasons for more regenerative practices (eg. wool rather than synthetics, batch production rather than warehousing) in ways that people understand and can take action on?

• How can knowledge sharing across geographies and industries be a part of the shift - changing perception away from competition between countries into focusing on sharing ideas that can be implemented in different localities.

I’d love to hear from you on these, and other related thought processes. And please do get in touch if you’d like to explore further.

I miss these people!

Last month, thanks to , the UK and India partners of the 6 New Landscapes projects met together in London for a UK delegation.

As well as being together for the launch of the New Landscapes exhibition at the office at Stratford, we attended events such as the World Design Congress, visited exhibitions, met inspiring leaders and shared our knowledge.

We also got to know each other as people, had creative discussions on our projects, made plans and had fun.

Online meetings are an amazing tool in global working - efficient, effective, value for money and accessible. However getting together face to face for a packed schedule of events was a fabulous experience for team building as well as pushing ourselves forward in innovation and creativity.

We added to already busy agenda extra meetings with potential partners, discussions on project planning and funding attraction, as well as some sight seeing and visits to London’s bars and cafes.

These photos show some of our more informal times - showing football crazy the West Ham stadium, dressing up with .raeburn in items upcycled from surplus, planning and relaxing with the Circular Handspun team, photo posing with the Desi Oon traceability team, a group photo following a dinner following the exhibition and more.

Thanks to Sevra, Hannah, Katia, Prem and Az from British Council for arranging the agenda and hosting us, to Sally and Liv from for supporting the projects and exhibition and to all the project partners for attending and making the experience so valuable and enjoyable. It feels like connections and friendships were built and grew thanks to this experience.

Our Circular Handspun project, a collaboration between Khadi London, Where Does It Come From? , Conserve India and Khamir , is focused on recycling waste textiles using hand powered traditional processes.

We are delighted that our work will be included in the British Council and UAL Fashion, Textiles and Technology Institute New Landscapes exhibition being launched in September and running through to January.

Representatives from all four partners will be in London from 8th to 16th of September and we are keen to use this as an opportunity to create relationships with interested parties such as:

- Designers looking for small quantities of hand crafted yarns or fabrics, created with recycled fibre
- Brands who are open to experimentation and would like to be part of creating new product sets using hand crafted recycled fibres
- Organisations interested in supporting our enterprise through knowledge sharing, funding and connections.

We will all be in the Stratford area of London and have access to meeting space so please do get in touch if you want to meet with us.
