Fabulous to find a little piece of India in Ipswich, leading to nostalgia and good vibes.

Newly opened Hyderabad Street food place serves delicious meals and snacks - it's part of the new food court next to Tower Ramparts bus station.

I had a masala dhosa - reminding me of breakfasts in Delhi with a couple of months ago!

The Titu team kindly made me a masala chai too - my favourite - even though it isn't on the menu.

I'm seeing some lunch dates coming plus they are open evenings till 8pm and even later Fridays and Saturdays.

Note: I am not being paid to post this, I really liked it and want to ensure it gets a good chance of staying!

✅ How regenerative farming can be part of the solution
✅ The connection between environment, farming, and fashion
✅ The journey of British Pasture Leather in reshaping the industry

🚀 Exciting News! The Where Does It Come From? Podcast has been named one of ’s Top 50 UK Sustainability Podcasts! 🌍💚 Huge thanks to our listeners and supporters.

Sara and Alice co-founded British Pasture Leather in 2020, creating the first supply of leather made from animals raised on regenerative farms in the UK. Inspired by a belief that regenerative agricultural practices are a crucial solution in renewing soils, stewarding land and reforming food and fashion systems, British Pasture Leather is linking leather with exemplary agriculture and forging new connections between farming, food and material culture. In 2023, Grady + Robinson were named sustainability thought leaders by the Vogue Business 100 Innovators List and won the Ryan Young Climate+ Award from the Textile Exchange.

How do we know when something is true or not?
The rise of our polarised media - one news site tells a story one way, another a completely different - is leading to widely differing belief systems.
Some people get news from the papers. But most of the more ‘mainstream’ news sources are owned and have their own agenda. The Guardian is an exception.
Some people get their news online, from social media links recommended by the algorithm, youtube videos, podcasts, chatrooms and still occasionally from other people. Whilst it is great to get as much information on a situation as possible, it is really important to remember that on the socials/youtube you are being shown information IT THINKS YOU WILL LIKE. They just need to keep you there. For adverts.
Opinions are valid and we all have them, but they are not always true.
As a Mum of teenagers I can tell you that they are being told constantly at school to watch their sources. Just because you read it on the internet somewhere doesn’t make it true. As adults we need to do the same in this world where powerful people and organisations want to persuade us to spend our money with them, support them, vote for them. We are the product.
Online services (websites) are not free - either someone else is paying for them (and has an agenda) or advertising is there.
The main thing we need to do is think. It’s too easy to accept without questioning what we are being told. Ask yourself why someone is telling you something. Does it make sense in the real world? Is everyone else really so stupid that only a small group can see the light? Is it better to trust someone because they entertain you/look good/make you feel good about yourself or because they’ve studied a subject to a high level and had years of experience? As our teachers used to say, let’s be sensible.

Community. Peace. Inclusivity.

After an 'interesting' week it felt hopeful to come together with thousands of Ipswich people for the Remembrance Day service at Christchurch Park.

My grandfather was wounded in the war, carrying a bag full of ammunition. The bullet passed right through his side. I remember putting my hands in the wound as a small child. If the bullet had hit a vital organ, or indeed the bag of ammo he was carrying then that would have been his end. Then my father would not have been born, nor me. He was 'lucky' and many others were not.

As the huge crowd today hoped and prayed for an end to war, the feeling of community and positivity was very strong.

Lest we forget.

Thanks to for inviting myself and to her film and report launch of 'Regenerative Fashion Futures' last week.

Great to be in the room to hear about and share knowledge on regenerative fashion and relationships to descaling fashion, reframing craft and decentralised production and integrating with circular systems.

It was wonderful to see our partners on the big screen with talking about the importance of heritage craft in fashion and meeting the hand spinners. This visit was facilitated by so very honoured to be able to amplify such valuable work.

It was great too to catch up with some previous connections including .v.robinson and as well as meeting and hearing from some amazing contributors in the regenerative fashion journey.

Well done and thank you to Safia for such a valuable film and report, and for including diverse voices not just in research, but on the day too.

Had a lovely get together last week with natural fibre loving friends and colleagues old and new from our community .

Thank you to my co-director for surprising me with a birthday cake! I can't think of the last time I blew out candles ;-)

It was lovely to catch up with on her visit from India, as well as and Laurence.

Three out of four of the original Khadi London board were present (next time Ivan!) and most of the original Awaek team (we missed you Andy !)

Great to catch up in a beautiful location.

What a great day I had at the Future Fabrics Expo 24 yesterday, put on by at .

It was a great experience of catching up with regular colleagues like co-director , partner , mentor and fellow grantees , , Niccy from , Vanessa from

Fab to meet people for the first time that I'd only met online such as the inspiring and from and Deborah Barker from . Also bumped into a few great people in passing for a chat - lovely to see you , Kirsten Scott.

After an inspiring start with a keynote from Sandrine Dixson-Decleve of
I listened to wisdom on panel sessions from circularity systems to organic vs regenerative agriculture - heated at times despite the air conditioning!

Finally the networking - so many intriguing and fascinating discussions with new connections including .tech , , and more.

Key messages for me were the balance of community and heritage with investor requirements and use of tech/data in meeting this, plus scale - how to focus on reduction of quantities and building connection whilst being able to sustain a business and maintain client expectations.

A beautiful day…

On Sunday the team and network came together for a picnic and catch up at Greenwich Park London.

The sun shone on us and it was beautiful to share stories from our various regenerative textiles projects and our lives in general. The sun shone and we enjoyed a huge collaborative feast!

The first photo is the whole group (minus 2 who had already left - sorry!), me with the lovely Morgan and Asha Buch who embroidered the banner behind us which is a quotation from Mahatma Gandhi ‘In a gentle way you can shake the world’. Asha is proudly wearing her shirt.

The third photo is three Khadi London stalwarts and Krishnakant Buch.

What a great day and thank you all for coming.

Photos by Morgan, Aarnav and a kind stranger in the park!
