It broadcasts a range of all music and opinions and is aimed at 16-25’s at its heart, but likes to include all pockets of the community. In the early days of Ipswich Community Media we had a small number of projects; our ESOL classes, South Street Kids, and IO Radio. Over the years our projects have grown and changed; we’ve developed new core projects, and run many ad hoc projects to meet the needs of our community and reach beyond it. But at the beginning these three projects were our cornerstones.

We're incredibly proud of everything IO achieved over it's years with ICM, and although it is not currently an active project, we couldn't think of celebrating 10 amazing years of ICM without mentioning IO's legacy.

Eastern Angles Theatre Company is looking for aspiring directors, actors, producers, designers,
writers, theatre makers, and artists to join its new Young Creatives programme. Aimed at 18-25
year olds the programme will give participants the opportunity to participate in industry mentored
sessions to upskill their future creative careers. With a welcome workshop on Friday 15th
December, the programme will start fully in January 2024.
The Eastern Angles Young Creatives programme will have a key focus on developing tools that can
translate into a creative career path and will cover all aspects of theatre, including creative writing,
acting, stage-management, design, producing, and directing. Weekly sessions with Suffolk-based
industry professionals will lead towards the curation of mini projects which are for and by young
people. The Young Creatives group will also form the Eastern Angles Youth Advisory Board which
will influence and challenge the work of Eastern Angles Theatre Company and how it represents
young people.
Speaking about the programme Jake Smith, Eastern Angles Artistic Director/CEO, said: “I am really
excited for the programme Eastern Angles will be offering to aspiring creatives over the coming year
and for emerging creative to have a voice on our board of trustees. I know how important
opportunities are in the creative industries and how opportunity leads to legacy. We are proud to
invest in the creatives of tomorrow and make sure their voice is heard, as well as celebrate the
amazing cohort of artists who practice across our region.”

IO offers training courses focusing on specific areas of radio production, as well as transferable skills such as interview techniques and team-working. These are free to attend, but places are limited.
