We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us on a unique archaeological dig at the historical Great Terrace, part of Saltram’s 18th-century pleasure grounds.
This is your chance to get hands-on with history!
What you’ll do: Help with stripping turf and excavating trenches. Assist with archaeological recording. Engage in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to uncover the secrets of Saltram’s past.
We need you if:
You’re able to handle physical tasks like using wheelbarrows, shovels, and mattocks. We also have opportunities for archaeological recording tasks, for volunteers with access needs.
You’re available to commit for the seven-day duration of the dig, though we can be flexible with scheduling.
Volunteer perks: Be part of a dedicated team rediscovering Saltram’s historical landscape. Learn directly from experienced archaeologists. Morning and afternoon tea breaks (bring your own packed lunch and water). Sturdy boots recommended, but we have extras if needed. Gardening or builders’ gloves are advised; we can provide some if necessary.
