Today at 11AM, our members sat downstairs in Central Hall for a 2 minute silence for Remembrance Day with the rest of the country.

Many of our members are also wearing poppies today which helps us to remember all the soldiers and people who lost their lives during the First World War as well as every conflict that has happened all over the world. 🥀

Remembrance Day is very important for us to think about and remember the soldiers who returned from WW1 that were physically and mentally disabled, and found it hard to return to the society that they had left.

Charities and groups like the Royal British Legion were set up in the 1920s to give these disabled veterans support, which continues to this day.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

Yesterday on the People First Podcast, we interview Inclusion North about the upcoming 20th Anniversary Awards Gala they are holding! It was fantastic getting to speak to a member of the charity, Dawn, who was supported by one of the staff.

We are thrilled to announce that not only have we have been shortlisted for Charity of the Year... our team leader Janet has been nominated for the "Go the Extra Mile" category, for all fantastic work she has done over the last 12 months.

Keep an eye out for the show coming out soon! 👀

Breaking news: a company actually pays people with learning disabilities.

Wild, right?

After the Waitrose scandal this week, it seems doing the bare minimum has somehow become headline-worthy.

At Stand Out Socks 🧦, we’ve been paying our team for every hour they’ve worked from day one — not because it’s radical, but because it’s right.

💬 We’ll be on BBC Breakfast tomorrow at 7:15am — apparently paying people fairly is worth talking about.
