Rough As Owt D.I.Y. Filmmaking Workshop With Sean Grundy.

Join Emmy-winning, BAFTA-nominated Bradford filmmaker Sean Grundy for an exciting, hands-on two-day filmmaking workshop.

Thursday 12th & Friday 13th March, 10:00am – 4:00pm.

Sean will break down how he developed his rOUGH (aS oWT) cINEMA approach to create his forthcoming 90-minute feature film tHE iNVISIBLES. Through clips and practical demonstrations, he’ll unpack the entire process, from initial concepts through to workshop shoots, reshoots, edits, phone footage, and inventive use of space and performance.

This workshop isn’t just about watching and listening, it’s about making. Participants will work hands-on to recreate a scene from Sean’s upcoming feature, gaining direct experience of his DIY filmmaking methods.

Supporting the workshop is the team behind the film, including Director of Photography Dave Langan, alongside actors and key crew members, all offering practical guidance throughout. This is not a theory class, it’s a do-it lab.

Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker, writer, performer, or creative, this two-day workshop is for you.

Today we wanted to share, ‘I Met The Walrus’ (2007) 40 years ago a 14-year old Beatle fan edged his way in to see John Lennon and recorded this exchange covering topics still eerily relevant today.

I Met the Walrus is an animated film directed by Josh Raskin and produced by Jerry Levitan. It stars Levitan and John Lennon. The film’s pen illustration is by James Braithwaite and computer illustration is by Alex Kurina.

In the weeks ahead, we will be sharing a selection of short documentaries designed to inspire you for our upcoming five-minute film club.

Today we wanted to share the incredible, ‘Inside, The Valley Sings’ (2024) Directed By Nathan Fagan / , Secluded in 6x9 cells year after year with little or no human contact, three individuals in prisons across the United States experience the tedium, loneliness and psychological despair of long-term solitary confinement.

Over time, they begin to construct elaborate fantasy worlds to escape their daily reality. Through vivid, hand-drawn animation, ‘Inside, The Valley Sings’ tells their remarkable real-life stories and paints an unforgettable portrait of the power of the human imagination.

In the weeks ahead, we will be sharing a selection of short documentaries designed to inspire you for our upcoming five-minute film club.

Today we wanted to share, ‘Black Sheep’ Academy Award Nominated for best short Documentary, in Black Sheep, after the high-profile killing of Damilola Taylor, Cornelius’ family move out of London. But when they discover their new town is run by racists, Cornelius’ life is turned upside down.

Filmed with non-actors in the same locations where the real events took place 15 years ago, this is a story about the things we do to survive, Directed by Ed Perkins in 2008.

Today we wanted to share, ‘Three Salons at the Seaside’ which is a 1994 British documentary film directed by Philippa Lowthorpe. First broadcast on 29 August 1994 on BBC Two to mark the centenary of Blackpool Tower, the film follows the staff and customers of three hair salons operating in Blackpool, England.
