The third week of July's Thursday Pub Quiz at The Compass for Macmillan Cancer Support saw another 19 teams packed in including the aptly-named "The First Timers", our newest team.

It was "Agatha Quiztee" who took the early lead, being the only team to play their Joker in the First Round, scoring 18 points on 'This Week In History'.

With the topic of the Word Puzzle Round being 'Dingbats', this saw some really high scoring, with "Agatha Quiztee", "Kimbers Crew", "Our Drinking Team Has A Quiz Problem", "The Clan" and "Universally Challenged" all scoring 10/10 to claim 2 Bonus Points each. However, "Bonnie & Clyde", "Craig & Mike", "Quizzardry", "Team Bates", "Team Mac", "Tequila Mockingbird", "The Bridies", "The Giggle Gang", "The Stoaters" AND "The First Timers" ALL got full marks with their Jokers to bag an additional 2 Bonus Points each as well!

In Round 3, there were only two Jokers played for the 'Multiple Choice' round, and this time it was "The Clan" who top-scored on 14 points.

The topic for the Picture Round was 'British Financial Institution Logos' and this saw three teams - "Craig & Mike", "Quizzardry" and "The Dreggs" all score perfect tens to get 2 Bonus Points each.

That left the remaining Jokers to be played in the Music Round, which this week was 'TV Theme Tunes' - "It's A Secret" and "Our Drinking Team Has a Quiz Problem" tied the round on 16 points each.

In 'Total Wipeout' our teams were now playing for a £40 Jackpot, but there were no winners, with 11 teams failing to register a point, and so the Jackpot goes to £50 for next week.

Several teams were still in contention as we went into the final 'Guess Who?' round. However, it was "Agatha Quiztee" who were the only team to correctly guess TV personality Alexander Armstrong as this weeks mystery celebrity on the first clue, winning the £20 cash prize for the round.

And it proved to be enough to see them crowned as 'Team of the Week' on 69 points, earning them the £25 Greene King Brewery Gift Card.

We look forward to welcoming you all to The Compass again next Thursday for Week 4, as we continue to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, having lots of fun in the process!
