Governor Emmanuel Primo Cancels Demarcation and Restores Aweil Jedid Playground to Promote Sports

On Monday, July 21, 2025, Governor Emmanuel Primo Ukelo of Western Bahr El-Ghazal State issued a decisive order to cancel any ongoing demarcation activities at the Aweil Jedid Playground, located at Plot No. 424, Block 34 Extension. This directive, formalized as State Order No. 27/2025, was made in the interest of preserving public access to the playground.

Following this, Governor Primo issued State Order No. 28/2025, officially reverting control of the Aweil Jedid Playground back to the State Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport. This move is aimed at safeguarding the playground as a vital public space and enhancing the promotion of sports and youth activities throughout the state.

Governor Primo further instructed the State Ministry of Housing, Lands and Public Utilities, the State Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, the Town Planning Board, and the State Legal Administration to coordinate and take all necessary steps to implement these orders effectively.

This action highlights the government’s strong commitment to protecting communal recreational spaces and fostering the development of youth and sports programs in Western Bahr El-Ghazal State. The restoration of the Aweil Jedid Playground is expected to provide a renewed platform for community engagement and athletic growth.

Victor Lawrence Lual – Secretary General, South Sudan Football Federation: From the Pitch to the Pinnacle of Football Administration"

Victor Lawrence Lual is a highly dedicated, ethical, and professional figure in the world of football administration in South Sudan. With a lifelong passion for the sport, Victor has not only contributed on the field as a player but has also played a vital role in shaping the administrative framework of football in the country.

His early football journey began in Khartoum, Sudan, where he showcased exceptional talent playing for Al-Hilal Youth Team. He later went on to play for Freedom Football Club in Al-Kalakla, among several other local clubs, making a name for himself as a committed and dynamic player. His involvement in football extended beyond Sudan, as he actively engaged in sporting circles in Egypt and South Sudan, building a strong foundation for cross-border sporting collaboration.

Driven by a deep passion for developing local talent and promoting organized football, Victor founded Citizen Football Club, an initiative that provided young players with the platform and support to grow and compete. His vision and leadership did not go unnoticed. He served as South Sudan’s national coordinator for the Confederation of African Football (CAF), representing the country in various continental engagements and strengthening its ties with African football institutions.

Victor's extensive experience and unwavering commitment led to his appointment as the Secretary General of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) during the presidency of Francis Amin. In this role, he has been instrumental in streamlining football governance, enhancing transparency, and promoting the sport at grassroots and national levels. Gen. Aleu Ayieny reconciles former Governor Lewis Anei Kuendit

H.E. Amb. Bol Wek Agoth, presided over a forum of Greater Tonj intellectuals in Tonj Town whereby he facilitated reconciliation between Gen. Aleu Ayieny and Hon. Lewis Anei Kueindit which is a boost towards realization of peace in Greater Tonj amidst the current State of Emergency.

"Today is a day to reflect on contributions made by Warrap citizens during the liberation struggle of South Sudan with notable characters such as Gen. Aleu Ayieny Aleu and Hon. Lewis Anei Kuiendit."

According to the Governor, cooperation between intellectuals is vital and hence the likes of Gen. Aleu and Hon. Lewis should lead in demonstrating the spirit of peace and reconciliation especially at this moment that we need peace in Greater Tonj and Warrap State which the youth will follow.

Governor Agoth solicited Greater Tonj intellectuals to unite with him and convince the youth that a pen is mightier than a gun. "A pen can build bridges, save lives in hospitals and revolutionise agriculture." Continued the Governor.

Greater Tonj leaders including Gen. Aleu and Hon. Ustaz Lewis called upon the youth to follow in their footsteps and forgive one another for peace to prevail in Warrap State.
