I do love shooting in London with my clients.

As I’ve always said, preparation and having a plan for your shoot, is the best way to maximise the amount of content we can create in one shoot.

Knowing what you need content of, where & when you might be looking to use it and what look and feel you want for the finished results.

When on a new location which I’ve not been to before, the first thing I start to do is look around to find as many background options that would work to fit the brief.

One day of shooting can give you 6 months of quality content if you have a plan.

Here are some of my favourite images from The ABBBAs this year.

Knowing how to light each image to get the best results is key when covering events.

But something which I do in the post production, which not all event photographers do, is that I add extra lights.

No one wants blown out images or images that are just too dark to be used in print. So I like to get most of the results in camera but when I want to take an oppertunity to the next level, I will spend some extra time editing the image to deliver the final results that my clients will love.

How to level up your testimonials in 2026.

We all know that testimonials add real value as they build trust, tell a story which others can relate to and builds authority around how you solve your clients problems.

Here are my top 3 tips for creating better video testimonials as we go into 2026.

Tip 1 - Ask better questions.
Dont ask what it was like working with us. Tap into the problem, the impact and the benefits going forward.

Tip 2 - Keep it simple.
You dont need flashy transitions or 5 different lights around your subject. Its about the message.
I would say though, if you create a 3 minute video, dont have it all just as a talking head - add in some B-Roll clips to break it up and keep it engaging.

Tip 3 - Have a distribution plan.
Take that 3 minute testimonial video and break it down into a 1 minute story for socials. Find 1 or 2 killer sentences which can be turned into a 20 second post. Will this be used as part of a landing page or a sales conversation?

The downside to using ChatGPT & AI isn’t the technology.

AI is an incredible tool, I use it myself for brain storming, planning shoots and turning my voice notes into blog posts.

It helps shape ideas, sharpen your thought process, and speeds up creative workflows.

Yes, AI can write the words, create a video and images for your brand. But it can’t give you your voice, your style or your personality, whether that’s for you or your brand.

And that becomes a real problem when someone posts a beautifully written piece of content online, a great image or visually engaging video and then, you meet them in person or book them to speak at an event, create a video or images for your brand and you realise;

- They can’t explain what they posted
- They don’t believe half of it
- They can’t recreate the same results

That’s when trust breaks down, because people don’t follow content. They follow people because they want to connect with like minded individuals or people who are sharing an insight into a totally different world to them.

If you’re using AI to create content (and you should), then please remember this. You still need to know your truth.

- You still need your belief system
- You still need to be able to talk about what you post
- You still need to be connected to your finished results

Your content only works if you can hold your own in a real conversation, in a meeting, on a Zoom call, at a networking event, or on a stage. People love to know the How & Why behind the finished results or thoughts.

If you get booked for a client presentation because of something you posted, you need to be able to expand on it without pulling out your phone and asking ChatGPT what you meant or how did I create this result.

AI should support your voice, not replace it.

Something I always say to clients. If you can’t say it out loud with confidence or recreate the finished results you are showing, then you shouldn’t post it as part of your marketing.

- Use AI to help you shape ideas
- Use it to clean up your messaging
- Use it to structure your thinking

But the beliefs, the perspective, your truth?
That has to come from you. And that’s the real downside of AI, its not the tool, but you losing your truth, your vision and your brand inside the tools.

Storytelling is the oldest marketing strategy in the world, and still the most effective.

Why?

Because stories make people feel something. And when people feel something, they remember that moment;
- They remember you
- They build trust with you
- They choose you and your services

Its the classic Know, Like & Trust.

The good news is that you don’t need to be a filmmaker or writer to tell great stories. You just need to know what a great story needs to have and how to tell them stories.

I want to share with you 3 simple things anyone can do to tell better stories.

1. Start with what is actually happening. Set the scene.
Don’t say “customer service matters.”
Tell me about the moment you went beyond the brief or what you did as a standard to help the client.

Moments like this create connections.

2. Share your thinking, not just your finished results.
People don’t buy into just pretty visuals, they buy your process, decisions, assumptions, and perspective.

Share the “why we did it this way” or "look at this unexcepted/more common than you think, problem"

3. Great stories don’t say “Look how good we are."
They say:
“Here’s someone just like you, facing the same problem and here’s the transformation they experienced.”

Your aim is to help your audience see themselves in the story. That’s what makes them take the next steps.

I want to share two things that I have been doing this year to improve my story telling and I think it will help you.

1. I am writing down 3 interesting things that have happened each week. A conversation, a client insight, a moment that made me think.

2. I am then telling one story a week out loud
Not on camera. Not on socials. Just out loud in the car.
But you could do this on a walk, to your kid, your partner or your dog.

But telling your stories out loud sharpens them faster than writing ever will.
You get to pratice changing your voice, knowing when to pause and getting the speed right when delivering these stories.

So here’s the one thing you should do from today to build up your library of stories:
Open your notes app on your phone and create a new page called Story Ideas.

Its where you will capture ideas, moments, quotes, mistakes, wins, frustrations, mini lessons, client interactions, anything that is shaping your day, business or goals for the future.

Within 30 days, you’ll have 20–40 stories ready to turn into posts, videos, pitches, or presentations.

Storytelling is about being human.
And when your brand becomes more human, your audience becomes more loyal.
