Our President Elect, Andrew Kendall is enjoying a golf break to Archerfield Links with some of his Furness golf club club mates.

Playing the 13th 1 down, Kendy thought he and his partner had levelled the match when Jon Clarke made a hole in one, only for Anthony O'Kane to follow him in with an ace of his own to half the hole 😲

This weekend CUGC are represented by Carlisle Golf Club in the England Golf Men's Champion Club Tournament at Kedleston Park in Derbyshire.

The team of Kieran Waters, Andrew Wolstencroft & Rory Thompson begin their challenge at 12pm on Saturday with a further 18 holes on Sunday and will compete against County Championship winning clubs from throughout England.

Huge Congratulations to the England team on their Home Internationals victory.

Martin Hand (Eden GC) made his debut for the national side and performed superbly throughout the series of matches.

England Team Captain Andrew Atkinson (Windermere GC) was in charge for his final Home's and came away from Royal St David's with the 🏆

Wishing good luck to our County Champions as they prepare to take part in the England Golf County Champions Tournament this weekend.

Men's Champion Jack Hunter (Workington) and Boys Champion Owen Ridley (Carlisle) are competing at Woodhall Spa against all of the County Champions in England.

Sadly our Senior Champion Craig Postlethwaite has had to withdraw through injury.

The Boys' tournament shall be played by stroke play over 36 holes on the Hotchkin Course at Woodhall Spa Golf Club on Saturday 12th September.

Another season of 36 hole scratch events in the books and the 2026 Cumbria Master Golfer results are in.

Congratulations to Jack Hunter (Workington GC) who topped the list, capping off a stellar season where he was crowned County Strokeplay Champion, won the James Salver for being the leading points scorer in county matches and also broke his home club's course record en route to winning their 36 hole event.

2nd place in the table came Will Bowe (Workington GC), this years County Matchplay Champion managed to combine farming with golf with great success once again.

England Senior International Martin Hand (Eden GC) was also on the podium in 3rd place. Even more impressive was that Martin only played in 3 of the counting events, testament to his consistent play this year.

Seascale GC's Brad Quayle retained the Junior Master Golfer crown. An outstanding season saw Brad make his Men's team debut this season and come through the challenge with flying colours.

Other youngsters are knocking on the door which is fantastic to see and we look forward to seeing how they progress next season.

Thank you to the golf clubs that stage the 36 hole scratch events, it is hugely appreciated by the players.

Congratulations to Jack Hunter of Workington Golf Club on winning the James Salver for 2026.

The salver is awarded to the player who wins the most points for Cumbria in league games over the course of the season.

A fantastic achievement and a great way to cap off a brilliant season.

A fantastic result for our Men's team at The Tytherington today.

Trailing 3.5 - 2.5 after the morning session the guys pulled out all the stops to ensure retiring Captain Simon Young went out with a victory 👏

Final score Cheshire 6.5 Cumbria 11.5
