Extract From "Parted" (one of the poems in "Over Crookwood")...

And although our time together
In the time of universe
Would hardly constitute a verse
In all the words ever written
About a love that’s stricken
Yet in the blinking of that eye
For you I would have gladly died

Such hyperbole clichés used so many times of
And I perplexed soul with reason rhymed of
At length you pushed me away from you
Tears welled up with in those eyes but soon froze
Translucent impenetrable Ice green like a frozen lake
And you cried so say for my sake," I have this to say!"
You spoke and told me not to whine
But be a man and wait a time [I chose!]
Till you were free to choose or I shouldn't bother
So with that I thought there was a serious chance
I could lose you all together to another
And sure enough in that time lost you
To me an immeasurable cost too

Thus as I trudge up by my stream
I trip and fall and shout and scream
I dream an interstellar theme
Of all the things I hold esteem for
And all the things in my short life
That haven't hurt me or gave strife
Very few remain for me save
Tinkling Snowdrops in my mind
And the Milky Way the way it winds
All planets and the stars that shine
In God's creation nature find
Her so thoughtful and so kind
With the holy Virgin birth
That star that came to save the earth
