Looking forward to the North region next week.

An enjoyment of colour and texture is reflected in Amanda's artwork, in which she strives to capture the essence of the landscape. Amanda uses drawings to record a sense of fleeting fragments of the landscape as she walks. Amanda uses a combination of paper and cloth to create surfaces to paint and work into with stitch.

For Artweeks Amanda will exhibit and demonstrate alongside Vikki Lafford Garside and one other textile artist in the Blanket Hall, Witney.

The Blanket Hall will be open on the 17th, and then 21st to 24th May, 10-5

Harriet will be opening her studio in south Oxfordshire for visitors.

She has been making ceramics for forty one years. Nowadays, she works with stoneware and porcelain, mostly throwing (and sometimes altering) pots on the wheel.

Once a year, at Easter, she fires a large anagama for five days and nights with a team of other potters. The pots are slipped but not glazed; decorated by fly ash and flame on clay. The effects can be dramatic. When in Oxfordshire she fires in a gas kiln - these pots, mostly designed to be used, are glazed with carbon trap shinos and decorated with liquid wax, sprinklings of rose ash and, gold lustre applied by brush.

The studio will be open 11am - 6pm daily, 10th to 18th May

Julie Grose - our Sculptural Blacksmith, is showing a the Turrill Sculpture Garden, Through the Summertown library, South Parade, OX2 7JN. The Garden is open 9.30am - 4pm Sat, Mon-Tues, Thurs-Fri, 3-24 May

Julie creates a range of architectural ironwork, home wares and garden art, using traditional blacksmithing and fabrication methods incorporating contemporary and classic feminine design.

Whilst studying at Camberwell Art College in London, Julie found her love for blacksmithing. After completing her degree she travelled to learn and work the craft from a variety of metalworkers and blacksmiths before setting up on her own as a sculptural blacksmith.

Alison is a relatively new member of the Guild, having joined us last year. She works in glass, both fusing and casting in vibrant colours. Varying from practical pieces including bowls, platters and jewellery to stand alone art pieces.

All the glass is kiln formed and hand crafted by Alison. Alison is opening her studio for the festival so you will be able to see where everything is made.

Venue 37 in Summertown will be home to Robyn Hardyman during the City Artweeks Festival.

Robyn works with porcelain, making functional and decorative wheel thrown vessels – bowls, vases, jugs and more. Elegant and balanced shapes define the pared-back simplicity of her work. She is drawn to porcelain’s delicacy and strength, and the pure surface it offers for glazes. Her pieces are thrown to a thin and delicate finish, and she relishes exploring glaze colours and textures that complement the simplicity of their forms. Her colour palette is cool, blues, greys, pale greens and creams – calming and harmonious.

Robyn's studio will be open 3th to 5th & 8th-11th,11am-6pm
