Happy Birthday Caitlin 🥰 31 today.
We are a bit slow in the Highlands at getting round to things, as an incomer once told us ‘only the rivers rush’, they might be right, this has taken me a full year! The photos of Caitlins 30th birthday party in Kilchoan community centre in Sept 2025 appears on my phone, here they are…. Better late than never 😁Caitlin left Kilchoan for Skye to the Gaelic Uni about 12 years ago. She had an arty year in Glaschu again around our own people so more Gaels, She made great friends from all over the Gàidhealtachd, Friends for life. She decided her 30th would be as good a time as any to get everyone together and it certainly did! She invited them and they came from far and wide and just about every Island was represented! Sept 2024 in Kilchoan is a great place for a big ceilidh. 🎉 💃 🕺🏻 🥳 🎈 We give out a list of accommodation providers and everyone booked their own. So many great Pods, Liz has her Tiny home, volcano cabins, ca’marys house and Oregon’s cabin, Swordale bunkhouse, Jacks ranch is a great pad, kinky Cottage, Achosnich chalet, Mùin shepherds hut give a lovely warm welcome to a single lady from Caitlin’s work🥰 Aunty Iona’s & Gus holiday cottage and house was filled with all the family, coming out the seems 😂
In fact there are so many other great self catering accommodation that I wish I hadn’t started listing them 🥴 if you are thinking of having a big celebration in Kilchoan, just do it! Book the hall. There were about 180 folk there, about 80% of them required to find accommodation, it was then an open invitation in the village. I’m going to have missed out somewhere, I’m sorry 🥴 There were also people home staying with their families , parents and friends. Kilchoan hotel of course and they were very accommodating to all the ceilidhing and all the instruments and the Gaelic singing, ceilidhs and craic all weekend. 💃 🥃 🎶 🍺 🎵 🍻 🎉 🥃 It would not have worked so well without the Community mini bus and Beckahs husband Richard doing the Taxi home in the bus to swordale, Portuairk, Achnaha and everywhere in between, he could have done with a good collie dog to round them up, Patience of a saint ☺️ 🙏
Also the local seafood from The Tobermory Fish Co.Ltd was outstanding. You order your selection of Finger food ready to go! You just open the box and fold it over. Tremendous. A big thank you once again to everyone who came to Ceilidh the weekend away, I don’t have photos of lots of you, Beckah and Richard and Kilchoan hall committee and all the pals who helped decorate and of course clear up ☺️ 🥰 Moran Taing 😍
