I have been challenged to run 3 miles everyday in December. For those of you who know me, this will indeed be a challenge. Consistency really is not my strong point. When we know we have to do something that we are likely to struggle with, then we have to use whatever strategies we can can to keep us motivated to reach the end goal.
In my case I have a friend who pushes me out of my comfort zone but knows me well enough to know I can't resist a challenge. Secondly, I have a wonderful boss and friend who holds me accountable when I tell him "I am going to do something". Thirdly, I am part of a business group which challenges us weekly to do something that gets us out of our comfort zone, something to grow our business and something for us personally. We have to state our intention and what the results are each week and finally through that group I was invited into another group who are exercising for at least 30 minutes each day in Dec which fits nicely with the 3 miles timing for me.
So, because I struggle with consistency I have built scaffolding around me, if you like, to ensure I get the job done. My scaffolding is 4 layers thick because it has to be. That's ok. If you don't need that level of motivation or if you need 10 layers - use and ask for whatever you need to.make it work for you. It really doesn't matter how much help you need to do it, if you finish then you've succeeded. I guarantee if you set your mind to something that stretches you, you will feel on top of the world when you've completed it. A real confidence booster!
Have a fantastic day folks!
