Trout challenges Smashed πŸ’ͺ🎣πŸ₯³

Thats me complete my challenges catching 31 trout in the last 3 session and catching from 7 different Ayrshire rivers. That also completes my road to 100 challenge with my season total finishing on 101 trout πŸŽ£πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’ͺπŸ₯³πŸ₯³

A Scottish River First for me.

Today I headed to Kilwinning for 7 am to fish the river Garnock and River Lugton to hopefully make it 6 rivers out of 7 for my challenge.

I started on the river Garnock spinning using size 1 and size gold spinners with red dots. I fished from the Bridgend Pool to above the silver pipe. It was salmon parr after salmon parr untill I finally managed to catch a very small but welcome trout.

It was then a fair trek from silver pipe to the river Lugton where I bumped into David Gilmour on route who gave me some good advice on the river and some likely spots. First spot and first cast I landed a trout what a stroke of luck. I fished on for a few more hours catching a couple more trout and to my surprise my first ever Scottish river perch.

With 6 of 7 river achieved i headed to the Kilmarnock water to try and catch numbers of trout to push the total towards 30.

Tomorrow morning Im headed to the river Annick to hopefully complete this challenge.

Really enjoyed chatting to the many followers I randomly met today was great meeting you all and thanks everyone for the amazing support.

Am I going to complete the challenge? Time will tell 🎣🎣

Day 1 Fishing Challenge update

Yesterday I started my my 30 trout 7 river Challenge. 25,500 steps later and I had a reasonably successful day catching only small trout. Caught at least 1 trout from 4 different rivers. The rivers i caught from were.

Craufurdland water
Fenwick water
Kilmarnock
River Irvine

Wont tell you the trout total will leave the suspense for the end of the challenge. Still have 3 rivers to catch from. The River Lugton, River Garnock and River Annick.

Back out in the morning. 🎣

🎣30 trout 7 rivers Challenge🎣

Whats that you may be wondering, so let me explain all.

Between friday and Monday I plan to attempt to catch the last 30 trout from my road to 100 challenge including at least 1 trout from each of the 7 rivers from my 3 permits.

The reason for this challenge is because after this set of days off from work, my river fishing time will be limited before the end of the season due holidays and family commitments.

This is the numbers so far for each river.

Garnock 3
Irvine 14
Lugton 0
Annick 16
Fenwick 0
Craufurdland 2
Kilmarnock Water 36

Total 70

Been a hectic weekend so never got a chance to post Fridays fishing report yet. So here it is 🎣🎣

It was later start than usual for me on friday as I decided to have a bit of lie in. I fished from 8am to 10.30am. Usuall area for me on a friday morning on river Irvine from Athletics arena up to millers dam and back again.

Due to low clear water I opted for a size 1 gold spinner which I stuck with all session. I landed 2 salmon parr and lost 2 as well. The sun then came out and I contemplated cutting the session short.

I managed to find a shaded area of water on my way back down river and had a few last casts. Im glad I did as I caught another 2 or 3 salmon parr and a wee brown trout, no picture of trout unfortunately as it escaped from my hand as I rummaged for my phone.

That wee trout puts me on to 70 for the season. 30 more to go on my quest for 100, but time is starting to run out. Will I make my target? 🎣

Throwback to my pb carp of 18lb 4oz caught on a trip to Drayton Reservoir in Daventry.

While everyone round about me was using more conventional carp tactics rigs etc I opted for the "no effort" pub chuck a method feeder with a 8mm yellow wafter about approach. It certainly worked 🎣🎣😎πŸ’ͺ

The Biggest trout I had from my last river session. Caught on a 5 cm blue abu garcia tormentor from The Howard park stretch of the kilmarnock water. Fish was about 1lb and also my second biggest of season from this river.
