🎣🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Hungover Sunday Trout Session🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎣

After staying up late to watch Scotlands first world cup game in 28 years and having a few to many drinks i was a tad hungover when I finally surfaced at lunchtime. A walk to clear the head was needed so I grabbed the rod and headed to the river Irvine for a few hours.

I arrived at the river to find it still carrying a bit of colour from the recent rain we have had. Lure of choice today was a size 1 gold spinner. After 2 hours, a few tumbles down bankings and a few lost I managed to land 2 trout in total.

There was loads of trout rising all over the river for flies today. I think I might have to invest in a light fly fishing setup for the trout on small rivers. I have absolutely no idea when it comes to fly fishing stuff so any recommendations welcome.

🎣Small River Big Trout🎣

Pictures don't do this fish justice. This fish was nearing 1lb 8oz not a huge fish by trout standards but for the wee river I fish where they average under half a pound its a big fish.

Both pictures of same fish.

This was one of 4 fish caught today meaning im now half way to my total of 100.

To make the challenge harder ive decided I won't fish the Kilmarnock water now as more than half of the 50 fish caught have came from there.

🎣Biggest Trout of Season🎣

With the water levels looking perfect tonight I decided to give the river Irvine a go tonight for a few hours.

5cm blue and yellow abu garcia tormentor was the lure of choice as ive done well with it in slightly coloured water in the past. It wasn't long before I was getting a few follows and hit and misses from trout.

Eventually I manged to hook a trout which turned out to be the biggest ive caught this season. No monster but at just under 1lb it gave me a good scrap on the light gear. A few casts later I manged a small trout about half the size.

After that I ended up loosing 3 other fish. This seems to be a recurring theme when using the abu garcia tormentors. Anyone else have this issue when using them?

🎣Road to 100 Update🎣

For those who are new to the page I set myself the challenge at the start of the trout season to catch 100 trout from my local rivers that I have 3 different permits for.

When I was out showing Bradley the river yesterday I had a few casts myself. I manged to catch 4 trout which takes the season total to 44. Nearly halfway to my target now. 💪🎣

Best river so far is the Kilmarnock Water with 23 trout caught.
