Think you know nature? Think Again!

Wild World is such a fun series that really pulls you into the most amazing parts of nature. Every book is full of beautiful illustrations and surprising facts that will make curious kids keep reading. We're really proud this one!

From creatures that dazzle and outsmart to beasts that disgust and destroy, the animal kingdom is wilder, weirder, and way more extreme than you ever imagined. Get ready for jaw-dropping, brain-bending, and sometimes totally gross facts that will change the way you see the wild forever!

All four titles are now available for international rights opportunities, giving publishers a high-interest, visually striking series with strong global appeal.

After a short break for the Bank Holiday weekend, we are back with another brilliant book review for the Summer Reading Challenge 📕. This week (Caterpillar herder, granola superfan and all-round nice guy) sat down with his daughter Eleri to read ‘Into the Wild’ by ().

Here’s what they had to say about it:

‘Eleri chose ‘Into the Wild’ from the library based on the number of animals on the cover and the ‘nice drawings.’ It was a great choice because that evening Joe and the animals saved the day! As the usual bedtime battle commenced (I’m sure all parents will know the one!) the promise of going on a nighttime adventure with her new book from the library had Eleri settled in record time.

Eleri loved exploring the illustrations and how each image revealed ever-more wild animals into each scene. She also quite liked pointing to each animal family and highlighting which ones were Mum and Dad and which ones were her and her siblings.

We gave ‘Into the Wild’ 5 stars - a very enjoyable book!’

For our Summer Reading Challenge book this week, , our superstar Editorial Team Leader ⭐, has escaped to the Land of the Last Wildcat! 🐈 Becca listened to Lui Sit’s (.land) magical adventure as an audio book and here’s what she had to say about it:

"A book with a cat on the cover and a Little Women quote in the dedication? I’m instantly hooked!

Land of the Last Wildcat is a gripping middle-grade adventure story about a girl called Puffin and her journey to save the last Kuri – a magical wildcat from Linger Island, who Puffin calls Trouble.

Puffin is confident, brave and determined to do the right thing. Whether you are more invested in intense action scenes or heart-felt moments, this book covers it all as we follow Puffin on her quest to take the Kuri back home and heal nature. It was impossible not to feel invested in Puffin and Trouble’s journey.

This book has a strong environmental message and touches on grief, phobias and the ethics of science in a powerful but sensitive way, encouraging readers to develop empathy and a desire to stand up for what is right. A wonderful book to read snuggled up with a beloved pet or outside amongst nature!"

This week's Summer Reading Challenge book pick is one of our own and it's one of our favourite series! Why? Because Charlie and his family live on a nature reserve surrounded by a whole load of amazing animals! 🦁 🐵 🐜 Charlie is so lucky.

🤩 Here's why Ant Attack is a top pick for Elise from the editorial team:

"There is no problem too big—or in this case, no problem too small—for the bright-minded boys in Charlie's Park!

How about an epic clash of ant armies in the heart of an underground nest? For Charlie and his cheeky monkey of a brother, Archie, it’s just another day in Charlie’s Park. The pincers are pinching, the pheromones are flying, and the ants are definitely ant-ing.

It really is all about the animals in this book. These brothers have care and compassion for wildlife that would make any conservationist swell with pride, as well as creativity and courage enough to match any action hero you can name.

And let’s not skim over genius gadget-inventor Uncle Monty, the kind of uncle that every kid should be so lucky to have. He doesn’t hold back with the inventions. Super strength exo-suits, hyper-binoculars, and a size-shrinking laser, what’s not to love?

In its own small way (very small, thanks to Uncle Monty’s shrinking ray!) Charlie’s Park sends a big message to kids. Nature is awesome, and very, very exciting."

Next up in our Summer Reading Challenge read-a-long, we’re learning all about bugs! 🐞

Harriet (International Rights Manager, social butterfly and all-round good egg) picked up ‘Lots of Things to Know About Bugs’ (Usborne Publishing), written by Sarah Hull and illustrated by Hannah Abbo. Here's Harriet and, more importantly, her 5-year-old son's verdict:

“We had a brilliant time reading 'Lots of Things to Know About Bugs' together, curled up on the sofa with a plate of buttery crumpets. From start to finish, this book had us both completely engrossed, so much so that we read it cover to cover in one sitting!

It’s packed with fascinating (and often funny!) facts that are perfectly pitched for curious young minds. The sections about dung beetles and bugs that wear poo to stop other insects from eating them were instant favourites in our house, of course. 💩

The lovely illustrations and light tone kept my son engaged throughout, and we both learnt quite a few new things too. In his own words, the final verdict was: ‘This book is VERY funny!’ and I couldn’t agree more. A perfect mix of gross, silly, and genuinely interesting facts that make learning feel like play.
Highly recommended for any bug-loving little readers (and their grown-ups)!”

For the first review of our Summer Reading Challenge read-a-long we are delving into the world of plants 🪴

Emma (PA to senior management, top-class tea maker and certified book worm) took out a library loan for the eBook of Little Experts - Superhero Plants, written by Chris Packham and illustrated by Jake Williams. Here's what she has to say about it:

"I must admit that I committed the cardinal sin of reading and chose this book because of the cover - but how could you not, the illustrations are so engaging! I devoured Superhero Plants in about 3 seconds flat, I thought I knew a lot about plants already but this book is jam packed with fascinating facts I'd never heard before, the top 3 things I learned was that:

1. You can make clothes from orange peel 🍊
2. A freshwater fern was responsible for cooling the earth enough for us to exist 🌿
3. Scientists have transferred the glow from a firefly into petunia leaves to make them glow too - how amazing! 💡

I immediately called my nephews (10 and 6) to tell them to save their orange peel as we'll be making an orange pair of socks out of them over the summer...they told me 'that's not real, you can't make socks from oranges!' so, I said, 'yuh-huh, it is too! Just go and read Superhero Plants and then you'll believe me' - they are off to the library today to see if I was lying. I love to inspire the next generation of fact hunters and knowledge sharers, even if they are only trying to prove me wrong!

This is a great book for little nature lovers, kids who absorb fascinating information and anyone who is interested in the power of plants. It's ideal for curious children and grown-ups to read together - happy reading! 📕"
