💚Evie appreciation post💚

A lot of clients have made comment in recent Monthes that Evie isn’t in their dogs video’s anywhere near as much as before so we thought we would do a little post for Evie.
Clients who have known us a fairly long time know that Evie was severely let down by the education system, despite myself as a parent securing diagnosis’s for autism, dyslexia and adhd by the age of 10 then going onto securing an EHCP ( anyone who has been through this process will know how difficult it is ) then going onto 4 separate education panels over the years, Evie never attended secondary school, she was robbed of her right to a school education for nearly 5 years!
The reason being all special schools are over subscribed ( which is why we need more of them )

Because of this Evie was a huge part of the working Pets at their Best team for those years, helping on group walks, helping in the dog grooming parlour, cleaning, painting, hosing, sweeping, keeping dogs busy and content, you name it she was involved.
She was a lucky girl to have this as an alternative and loved it.

However since September Evie hasn’t been around as much as she now attends college studying Equine Therapy as her true passion is horses 🐎 Unbelievably she will be 18 next year but is finally receiving the education that she so deserved for all of those years and creating friendships with people her own age and not just dogs ( although she was perfectly happy with only dog friends to be fair )

She’s still around sometimes during the week and at weekends if she’s not at the yard so you might see her crop up now and then in your videos still.

In the meantime Evie is grateful to know that she is missed so thank you everyone 🙏

Beautiful Bailey after his full deshed groom with added spa treatment aka Fortifying mud which is loaded with antiseptic and anti-fungal ingredients, this is a wonderful treatment for those dogs suffering with skin irritations which is massaged into the skin after their first wash and rinse 🤎🥰

The importance of taking your dog to a professional groomer includes the fact that we can notice things that you would not necessarily notice at home.

During a paw trim Phoebe found this little discrepancy with a clients paw pads, a condition not known by many but is quite common

📌 Rolling off the Toe Pads: What It Means for Your Dog

Rolling off the Toe Pads is one of the most common postural deviations seen in the canine foot, and occurs when the interosseous muscle becomes weak or lax, and can no longer support the foot against gravity.

When this happens, the small bones and tissues (sesamoid complex) at the base of the toes collapse downward. This compensation forces the superficial digital flexor, collateral ligaments, and digital extensor to take on extra work — leaving them overtaxed, and at an increased risk of partial or full rupture long-term..

We can spot this compensatory posture by looking at three key signs:

1️⃣ Toes lose their neat, stepwise alignment
2️⃣ The large heel pad (carpal/tarsal pad) begins to roll under
3️⃣ Toe pads flip upward instead of staying grounded

The good news? All dogs with this postural deviation, even dogs with this short phalanx structural predisposition can overcome Rolling off the Toe Pads postural deviation with the right targeted exercises.

👀 Have you noticed your dog’s toe pads rolling or flipping up when they stand?

Happy 14 years in business to us 😊

And here is where it all started ⬇️
2002 working in a Kennels/Cattery & Dog grooming parlour, I worked in two different businesses compromising of these services for the period of 10 years before starting out on my own, I learnt a lot from the people I worked under and was grateful for the experience before opening up Pet at their Best in 2012.

This is Bess ( aka Old Bess ) who used to visit us regularly back in 2002 🖤
