Court slams gag order on Nwoba Chika Nwoba over defamation suit - Ebonyi Broadcasting Television- EBT

Bars Nwoba from using Facebook, Instagram, newspapers, radio, or any other medium to mention or malign plaintiff

High Court sitting in Abakaliki has issued an interim injunction restraining popular Ebonyi social media critic, Nwoba Chika Nwoba, from making or disseminating further defamatory publications against legal practitioner Barr. Chinedu Ugadu across all media platforms.

The order, granted pending the hearing and determination of the substantive motion on notice, bars Nwoba from using Facebook, Instagram, newspapers, radio, or any other medium to mention or malign the plaintiff.

This legal setback marks a significant twist in the ongoing feud between the duo, which dates back to 2024 following Nwoba’s arrest over defamatory claims against State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Oguzor Offia Nwali. Ironically, Barr. Ugadu—then acting as Nwoba's legal counsel—secured his release from detention at the time.

Despite that past support, Nwoba has continued to mention Barr. Ugadu in negative light on his social media channels, prompting the lawyer to seek judicial intervention rather than retaliate publicly.

In an ironic turn of events, Nwoba’s current lawyer has reportedly withdrawn legal representation over his alleged failure to pay legal fees, further compounding his troubles.

With the interim injunction now in place, any further publication by Nwoba against Ugadu could amount to contempt of court—an offense that could carry grave legal consequences.

The case is expected to resume for hearing on a yet-to-be-disclosed date, as observers watch to see how one of Ebonyi’s most controversial online voices navigates his growing legal battles.
