Things are changing around here ๐Ÿ’š

After having some time off and evaluating the future of Being Well Magazine, I have decided that the financial situation and my own well-being come first. So I have come to the decision that in order to spread the message about childrens well-being in a sustainable manor, a magazine is not the way forward (at the moment!).

Instead, Being Well will adopt an online presence in the form of a blog. Details of this coming soon but for now take a look at Being Well Education on Facebook and Instagram for all updates and where everything will be posted from now on! ๐Ÿ“ฑ

Thank you all for the support on this page over the last few months! Iโ€™m positive that this is the right decision to make and look forward to seeing Being Well grow even more ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

Yesterday was World Social Work Day ๐Ÿ’š

is celebrated to highlight the importance of social work and raise awareness of the vital work that social services do on a daily basis. It was first celebrated in 2007 and this years theme is โ€˜Co-building a New Eco-Social World: Leaving no one behindโ€™.

To celebrate, here is Olivia - a Social Worker in Yorkshire. Olivia is amazing at her job and it was great to see an insight into her work as a social worker. I have known Olivia since high school and here she talks about what she does day to day in her job, her continual learning and training and what she does for her own well-being ๐Ÿ‘‰

Thank you Olivia for taking the time to do this ๐Ÿ’š

How to support children during world news ๐Ÿ’š

The situation in Ukraine happening at the minute is scary for everyone, as well as children. But for children, they may find it harder to research and process the actual facts and instead digest odd snippets or exaggerated pieces of information theyโ€™ve heard on the news or from their friends.

Thatโ€™s why itโ€™s important to support them during these times and to try and clarify what they are thinking about the current situation.

Here we have pulled together some tips on supporting children during significant world news events:

- listen to their worries โ˜น๏ธ
- validate their feelings ๐Ÿ’š
- reassure them ๐Ÿค—
- identify practical ways they can help ๐Ÿ“ฆ

Always think about each individual childโ€™s need, you know your child the best.

We hope these may help some of you. Thank you for reading ๐Ÿ’š

A shocking statistic found in the Mental Health of Children and Young People in England Report in 2020. Itโ€™s hard to identify every child suffering from a mental health issue but this is an indication which proves there are a lot of children out there that are.

In the last 3 years, the likelihood of a young person having a mental health problem has increased by 50%, evidently not helped by the worry and isolation the pandemic caused a lot of individuals.

Seeking support is so important and many services are overwhelmed given the increase in of mental health issues for everyone.

Thatโ€™s why early intervention is so important and part of that is instilling healthy values in children and educating them about mental health from an early age.

At Being Well Magazine, we understand this and our aim is to provide support and information to children and promote well-being for the future generations. To help us do this, please consider buying an Issue of Being Well Magazine for just ยฃ2.99 and sharing it with the children in your life ๐Ÿ’š

Today is Love Your Pet Day! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ

Having a pet can help to make a house feel like a home and we know lots of people appreciate their pets everyday of the year but today you can take the time to appreciate them just that little bit more ๐Ÿพ

The origin of is believed to have started in the early 2000s but having animals by our side has been happening since the start of civilisation ๐Ÿน๐Ÿฑ

But did you know that pets are not only good for cuddles, they are also great for our mental health? ๐Ÿง

Having a pet can:

- increase your physical activity (e.g taking them for a walk)
- provide companionship and a sense of security, particularly those who are lonely
- boost self-confidence (pets can act as listeners, offer unconditional love and wonโ€™t criticise you)
- increase social development (e.g meeting new people at groups, training and on walks)
- add structure and routine to your day (having routine can support your feeling of having a purpose, grounded and sense of achievement)

Do you have any pets? Tell us about your pets in the comments below, we would love to hear! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ’š
