Today is Love Your Pet Day! ๐ถ๐ฑ๐๐
Having a pet can help to make a house feel like a home and we know lots of people appreciate their pets everyday of the year but today you can take the time to appreciate them just that little bit more ๐พ
The origin of is believed to have started in the early 2000s but having animals by our side has been happening since the start of civilisation ๐น๐ฑ
But did you know that pets are not only good for cuddles, they are also great for our mental health? ๐ง
Having a pet can:
- increase your physical activity (e.g taking them for a walk)
- provide companionship and a sense of security, particularly those who are lonely
- boost self-confidence (pets can act as listeners, offer unconditional love and wonโt criticise you)
- increase social development (e.g meeting new people at groups, training and on walks)
- add structure and routine to your day (having routine can support your feeling of having a purpose, grounded and sense of achievement)
