Very sad indeed to learn of the passing of Al Wood, brass and woodwind player extraordinaire and a very talented and funny man. The first time I met him he would have been playing on a session at Fairview Studio and the quality of his musicianship was amazing. Over the subsequent years I would invite him to sessions without a clue as to what I wanted but he always came up with the goods and executed them faultlessly. He developed a wonderful recording technique and I know he loved studio work. I hadn't seen him for a while but we reconnected about two years ago and made all the usual noises about meeting up. We always thought we would have time. Rest in peace Al, I hope you're wearing the red nose. ❤️
