✨✨✨ Science Fiction Odyssey - Issue 1 - PS MAgazines ✨✨✨
-
🚀 The Magazine That Never Was… Until Now!
-
Back in 1971, Skywald Publishing—best known for horror magazines like Psycho, Nightmare, and Scream—planned something bold: the launch of Science Fiction Odyssey #1. It was set to be the first adult-oriented science fiction comic magazine since EC’s Incredible Science Fiction in the 1950s.
-
The lineup was incredible:
✦ Harry Harrison, Larry Niven, Gardner Fox, and Terry Carr writing original tales.
✦ Artwork by Jeff Jones, Michael Wm. Kaluta, Bruce Jones, Jack Katz, Chic Stone, and even Bernie Wrightson.
✦ A painted Jeff Jones cover that would have stopped fans in their tracks.
-
The magazine was fully completed—film prepared, stories lettered, cover art ready to go. But at the very last minute, Skywald pulled the plug. Financial pressures and a belief that science fiction “just didn’t sell” meant Science Fiction Odyssey never reached the newsstands.
-
Instead, its stories were scattered across Skywald’s horror line, appearing in Psycho, Scream, and Nightmare under different titles. For decades, this lost issue remained one of comics’ great “what ifs.”
-
✨ Now, more than fifty years later, PS Artbooks has painstakingly reconstructed Science Fiction Odyssey #1, drawing together its original stories, artwork, and design into the magazine that never was.
-
For fans of vintage comics, this isn’t just another reprint—it’s a chance to finally hold in your hands the lost science fiction magazine of the Bronze Age.

📚 Available now in limited numbers from PS Artbooks.
