Hull’s major city centre redevelopment is finally taking shape - and it’s been years in the making! 😍
Work at Queen’s Gardens has been underway since 2022, and so far, the Rose Bowl fountain has been fully restored, and part of it is now open! New paths and ramps have been added leading into the gardens from it too, and the dockside walls have been rebuilt.
There’s also been a huge focus on planting – over 450 new trees are going in, including rare species like dawn redwood and swamp cypress, planted semi-mature so they make an impact straight away.
New seating areas, maritime-themed lighting, and public art installations will give the gardens a fresh identity, while improvements to the ponds and drainage will make them more sustainable for the future.
As you might know, the project hasn’t been without challenges – the budget has risen to over £21 million, and the timeline has shifted - the gardens will fully reopen in spring 2026.
But, looking at the few completed parts we can see now, when it’s all done we think Queen’s Gardens will look amazing, a city centre attraction we can all enjoy and really be proud of.
