In the age of the entrepreneur/ infopreneur/ the-next-big-thing-preneur, there’s a lot of pressure to succeed, to be self sufficient, to be awesome - like ALL the time, and frankly, it’s exhausting. You have to be all things to all people, have amazing products and services, provide service with a smile, look like you know what you’re doing, be confident when you’re not feeling it, and be positive when you’re feeling anything but. Not only that but you probably have the week’s meals to sort out, school runs, kids, pets .. and that’s before you even stop to consider the last time you had a day off. But who helps you. I mean ACTUALLY helps you? Yes, there may government enterprise schemes and one off local workshops but what about ongoing support and training, advice when you need it and relevant courses and workshops on the topics YOU need help with?? This is why The McNeal Method came into being. Affordable business coaching now exists! I’m a 40-something mama with a small business, wanting to help others through my experience. I don’t believe in paying for any help if you can get it for free, and when you can’t get it for free, it needs to be affordable, but still bring the results you need. No-one seemed to be providing that, which vexed me. Coaches were charging upwards of £100 an hour. Courses were hundreds of pounds. Network groups were hundreds of pounds a year. This - I thought - is not accessible or realistic for the people like us who have tiny businesses. I tell my clients, “if you can’t find a way, make one.” .. so that’s what I did, and here we are. If you've ever thought about how great it would be to be able to produce your own images for your social media pages, or do your own business cards, or leaflets or anything else, then Canva may be the answer for you!
Canva is a user friendly graphic design platform which is far less technical than Photoshop, and is really easy to use (I promise!). There is a free version which will give you everything you need to start off with, and a Pro version which is amazing value for money if you use it a lot and want things like the ability to edit photos, add animations and remove backgrounds etc and costs under £15 a month.
Like anything else, when you first use it it can seem a little daunting and overwhelming, but I'm all about self sufficiency for businesses as it's a good way of keeping costs down.
I am here for all your design work, when and if you need me, but if you could actually do it yourself you wanted to, wouldn't that be even better?

I saw this saying recently and it really struck a chord with me.
One of the main issues I see - and help people with - stems from anxiety.
Let me explain, because you may be feeling this way too - especially if you're a creative person!
When we start a business, we are full of ideas and passion - and those two things are a crucial part of the development stage .. but to take those to the next level we need plans and action.
Without a proper plan, actions are pointless. It's a hit and hope or scattergun strategy which rarely brings real results or any longevity. So we start to come up with new ideas in the hope that they will work, and we keep repeating that process in the hope that THIS idea will be 'the one'.
Pretty soon you have a head full of ideas, most things half finished, and a whole load of worry because you've tried everything and nothing works properly. Anxiety kicks in - how will you make more money, how will your business survive, what can you do next?! Creative people are most prone to this, as ideas as their lifeblood, but the day to day part of how to market those ideas and sticking to a plan bore them. Sound familiar??
These are actually my favourite sort of clients. I LOVE deep diving into the chaos and arranging it all into a solid plan and seeing the relief on their face as they finally understand what they need to do and when.
There is also another element at play here too.
Because they've formulated this plan with someone else, they feel more obligated to stick to it - it holds them accountable for their actions. They are less likely to come up with excuses to not do it, and carry on along the right path.

Perfectionism might just be killing your creativity AND your progress!
The common misconception is that when you are a perfectionist, everything you do is right, so it's good to wait until every 'I' is dotted and every 'T' is crossed.
But there is a subtle difference between everything being right, or just being the best it can be.
You see when you are in business, especially by yourself, YOU are the expert at what you do - that's why you do it. No-one else will know if a word was out of place, you used the wrong expression, the colour was a bit off. As long as you're bringing passion, confidence and authority to whatever you're doing, people will love you for it - it makes you authentic.
We can clearly see this on platforms such as TIKTOK now - with video content which is unedited, filter free and uncut outperforming studio filmed A reel type content. Your audience WANTS to relate to content, not just watch it.
Searching and waiting for perfection can sometimes just mean biding time to find more faults, making you stuck in a negative mindset.
"It could be better" "I like it but" "That's not right, what if people hate it"
FORGET THAT! Focus on the positives and just show up!

Another new website completed for the truly wonderful Mark Burch, with his new business, That Mindset Thing.
I was curious about the name, and when I was chatting with Mark he said, that's what people always say about what he does, and I just love that! That right there is the power of really hearing what your customers and clients say about you and acting on it!
In my spare time, I am part of CRE8IV Theatre co, and our next show is Rock Of Ages - based around 80's rock music so it is exactly my vibe (tell me your age without telling me your age 🤣)
In this show I play the lead character's (Sherrie) mama, as well as a rocker and protester in the ensemble, so lot's of running on and off stage! I can't even begin to explain just how awesome it is to be a part of, it's the most fun - the script is hilarious, the dancing is off the charts, the songs and harmonies are just unbelievable and the music ... well it's just another level! PLUS we have a live rock band playing throughout the show, with songs like Pour Some Sugar On Me, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, The Final Countdown, Don't Stop Believing, and Here I Go Again.

All businesses need support - especially local theatres!
Little Theatre, Thornton hosts so many wonderful events and shows, and they go above and beyond for the local community every single time.
Just recently they have hosted a Barmy Bingo event with Scott Gallagher which was just the MOST fun evening, a Movies and Musicals Quiz Night, and they have a Holistic Fair (16th August) and Craft Market (6th September) coming up too!
My lovely client is up in Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival, all the way from the USA, with her new show! I'm just sad I can't be there this year in person, but seeing the posters we created for her show makes me so excited for her!

Sometimes, we say the same thing so often in our advertising and content that people become immune to it.
Think about it - how many times have you heard the phrase 'calls may be recorded for training and monitoring purposes' and does that even mean anything to you anymore?? Nope. You skim over that in you head, and wait for the actual human to come on the phone.
That's how people feel about content too.
If you keep saying the same things in the same way people get bored. They scroll past thinking they've seen it before. It loses impact and meaning.
So this is your reminder to switch things up, keep things fresh, and find a new way to say what you need to say!

If you’re reading this, the chances are that you’re a business owner, feeling stuck, overwhelmed, fed up or just generally lost.
I get it, because I’ve felt the way you feel right now.
I tell my clients, “If you don’t change it, you choose it” and that’s what I did.
These days I’m in my happy place, doing what I love best, and that wasn’t an accident.
Situations and circumstances have conspired to bring me this point, and now I’m passing on the experience to others, to help them achieve their goals in business ownership.
My background and expertise lie in advertising, marketing, copy-writing and design, and
I have worked for large media giants, and have also managed small businesses.
My interests and speciality has always been in turning around struggling ventures, reinventing the wheel, and getting new projects off the ground.
I’ve worked in corporate land, and I had enough of it.
I took a career break whilst my daughter was born. As I was due to return to work, my mum was diagnosed with lung cancer, and I became her full time carer, but sadly she left us just three months later, when my daughter was just a year old.
The shock of her death was such a blow to my dad, that his dementia accelerated and I was then a full time carer for him. My dad passed away twelve months later.
I decided there and then that I wouldn’t sacrifice the quality of life with my family and be suck in a job I hated. I had the brains and the drive, so I was going to go it alone.
In 2015 I bought a franchise which would allow me to have a home based business.
In 2016 I launched the Business Owners Network, to give business owners just like me a place to connect to others, and through that group I found my tribe.
In just twelve months, the network had a following of over a thousand local business owners -
people who felt alone in business, who believed they were too small to matter, too inexperienced to have an opinion, to insignificant to make a difference.
They had experienced hardships, depression, redundancies and despair, but together we made each other stronger, supported and empowered. I still feel honoured every day that people want me to walk their path with them.
Fast forward to 2017, and my mentoring business was born, filling the gap in the market of supporting the tiny and very new businesses which struggle to find affordable and accessible help elsewhere. Through coaching and mentoring, educating, and connecting people to others in similar situations, I have helped hundreds of business owners and have had the privilege of working with some fantastic people.
Currently, The McNeal Method is focusing on helping more business owners, those who don’t think they can afford or are worthy of a coach for their ‘little’ business.
The difference between my approach and other coaches is that I will show you what to do, do it with you or do it for you - whatever suits you best.
We can set some goals, see what’s not working, look at new opportunities, work towards scaling your business. We can conquer social media, increase sales, help your productivity, smash your marketing, work on your database of clients, get you seen on Instagram, connect with influencers .. the list is endless, and everything I show you is from experience.
