Not only that but you probably have the week’s meals to sort out, school runs, kids, pets .. and that’s before you even stop to consider the last time you had a day off. I mean ACTUALLY helps you? Yes, there may government enterprise schemes and one off local workshops but what about ongoing support and training, advice when you need it and relevant courses and workshops on the topics YOU need help with?? This is why The McNeal Method came into being. Affordable business coaching now exists! I’m a 40-something mama with a small business, wanting to help others through my experience. I don’t believe in paying for any help if you can get it for free, and when you can’t get it for free, it needs to be affordable, but still bring the results you need. No-one seemed to be providing that, which vexed me. Coaches were charging upwards of £100 an hour. Courses were hundreds of pounds. Network groups were hundreds of pounds a year. This - I thought - is not accessible or realistic for the people like us who have tiny businesses. I tell my clients, “if you can’t find a way, make one.” .. so that’s what I did, and here we are. ❎ META UPDATE: LINK SHARING RESTRICTIONS ❎
This is a big shift and one that will affect many small businesses trying to use Facebook for businesses. This will apply to business pages and profiles switched to professional use from what I can see.
In a nutshell, you will be restricted to sharing links in your organic (unpaid for) posts to 2 POSTS A MONTH.
This is a big push from the platform to get users to take the option to verify their account, with the cost currently around £10 a month, per page per platform.
Posts with links in the text are already 'ranked down' somewhat in terms of reach, so try to use any links in the comments of your posts now.
Meta are wanting people to stay on their platforms not leave to follow a link.
If you are scheduling posts for your pages, you'll need to remember to add the link in the comments once your post has gone out.

It was such a heart warming weekend at Cre8iv Little Theatre, Thornton seeing so many small businesses, crafters and artisans gathered together for two days of Christmas Markets. Seeing the public get behind these local events as well is especially rewarding.
Every gift bought at the market meant the world to the small business that produced and supplied it. Most people brought cash, meaning that processing fees could be avoided, and visitors didn't have to brave the crowds, parking issues and overpriced wares at big city markets.
We kept it local this weekend, and I couldn't be prouder! The BIG Christmas Markets will be back for 2026, along with many other events throughout next years so please make sure you follow the theatre page for details!

Are you a follower or a leader when it comes to marketing?
Let me explain what I mean by that, as most businesses fall into a category without being aware of which camp they're working from, and it can make a HUGE difference to your business.
Leadership Marketing includes activities such as presenting at events, creating and facilitating a Facebook group, publishing a blog, running a workshop, producing live material and so on.
Follower Marketing is more passive, including activities such as attending other people's events, joining groups, commenting on posts, blogs and articles.
So which is more important?
That's a good question, and although there isn't a concrete answer, leadership marketing positions you as a person of influence in your field, and let's people know that you really know what you're talking about - that you're the person they need to come to when they need help.
There's no doubt that this is super important to the growth and success of your business, so the majority of your time should be spent in leadership marketing activities.
Follower marketing does have it's place too though, as it helps to build relationships, gain trust, increase awareness and make you more visible, but introverts and those with social anxiety or imposter syndrome tent to lean more towards these activities, and a business will struggle to grow using just these tactics.
Really THINK and consider what you're doing to increase business. Are you really trying to grow, or are you simply trying to get through each week and fulfill orders, and firefight your way to the next month. Be proactive!
In summary, you'll need a mixture of the two types of marketing, but as a small business, try and aim for 70% leadership and 30% follower marketing, and see if makes a difference.

When I'm not working to help businesses I shop like everyone else, but because I really understand how hard it is to get ahead for small businesses I always make sure I give great feedback and appreciation when it's due.
I really hate when it goes the other way - but if I receive poor service or products and services that are below standard, I feel like I should let them know, so they have a chance to make those things better for their own sakes and their customers.
Having said that, how many businesses are out there that I haven't used, that could be really letting themselves down without knowing why?
If someone is unhappy with your business and leaves you a bad review, it can be costly and damaging, and often the first you hear about it is the review popping up - at which point it's too late!

If you’re reading this, the chances are that you’re a business owner, feeling stuck, overwhelmed, fed up or just generally lost.
I get it, because I’ve felt the way you feel right now.
I tell my clients, “If you don’t change it, you choose it” and that’s what I did.
These days I’m in my happy place, doing what I love best, and that wasn’t an accident.
Situations and circumstances have conspired to bring me this point, and now I’m passing on the experience to others, to help them achieve their goals in business ownership.
My background and expertise lie in advertising, marketing, copy-writing and design, and
I have worked for large media giants, and have also managed small businesses.
My interests and speciality has always been in turning around struggling ventures, reinventing the wheel, and getting new projects off the ground.
I’ve worked in corporate land, and I had enough of it.
I took a career break whilst my daughter was born. As I was due to return to work, my mum was diagnosed with lung cancer, and I became her full time carer, but sadly she left us just three months later, when my daughter was just a year old.
The shock of her death was such a blow to my dad, that his dementia accelerated and I was then a full time carer for him. My dad passed away twelve months later.
I decided there and then that I wouldn’t sacrifice the quality of life with my family and be suck in a job I hated. I had the brains and the drive, so I was going to go it alone.
In 2015 I bought a franchise which would allow me to have a home based business.
In 2016 I launched the Business Owners Network, to give business owners just like me a place to connect to others, and through that group I found my tribe.
In just twelve months, the network had a following of over a thousand local business owners -
people who felt alone in business, who believed they were too small to matter, too inexperienced to have an opinion, to insignificant to make a difference.
They had experienced hardships, depression, redundancies and despair, but together we made each other stronger, supported and empowered. I still feel honoured every day that people want me to walk their path with them.
Fast forward to 2017, and my mentoring business was born, filling the gap in the market of supporting the tiny and very new businesses which struggle to find affordable and accessible help elsewhere. Through coaching and mentoring, educating, and connecting people to others in similar situations, I have helped hundreds of business owners and have had the privilege of working with some fantastic people.
Currently, The McNeal Method is focusing on helping more business owners, those who don’t think they can afford or are worthy of a coach for their ‘little’ business.
The difference between my approach and other coaches is that I will show you what to do, do it with you or do it for you - whatever suits you best.
We can set some goals, see what’s not working, look at new opportunities, work towards scaling your business. We can conquer social media, increase sales, help your productivity, smash your marketing, work on your database of clients, get you seen on Instagram, connect with influencers .. the list is endless, and everything I show you is from experience.
