"The Stuart Cup and the Junior Inter-County still retains its magic"

This year's Stuart Cup presenter, Leslie Tait, has served the Orkney Junior Inter-County Committee for over twenty-five years and is the current secretary.

Leslie is also a former athlete, having represented Orkney in the 880 yards and javelin in 1965 and 1966. He was also selected for the athletics team in 1967 - a year where the competition was cancelled due to fog in Orkney preventing the flight from travelling.

Fast forward to 2026 and Leslie says the competition is still as special now as it was then.
