Season Finale: THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY — Sat 27 June, 7.30pm

We’re closing our season with a real gem: the Oscar‑nominated THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY (1978) — still regarded as one of the finest music biopics ever made.

Gary Busey delivers an extraordinary performance as Buddy Holly, capturing the spark drove him from small‑town Texas to the forefront of rock ’n’ roll.

Every song is performed live on set, giving it a real authenticity you rarely see today. Nothing lip-synced or computer-generated here!

After the credits roll, to celebrate the end of a brilliant season, we’ll keep the rock ’n’ roll spirit going - bar open, snacks out, chairs pushed back and classic tracks playing for anyone who fancies a dance.

For tickets, at just £6, see link in comments. Also from Teise & Coffee on The Broadway or on the door.

Book early to avoid disappointment!

📽️Make a date to see our next film, The Life of Chuck on Saturday 30 May at 7.30pm.

🎞️The film takes the saying 'My life flashed before me' to a different dimension in this short story written by Stephen King, who has produced something more profound than his usual horror genre.

📽️Tom Hiddleston (The Night Manager) stars as an unremarkable accountant, with a lifetime of remarkable experiences that gives us food for thought at the close of the film. Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) and Mark Hamill also give great performances in this not to miss story.

🎟️Tickets are just £6 that can be bought online (link in comments), from Teise & Coffee on the Broadway or on the door on the night.

A final reminder that we are screening “Jane Austen Wrecked My Life” on Saturday April 25th.

“A modern, literate and sweet riff on finding the kind of happiness that can't be found in a book, Jane Austen Wrecked My Life will make your day.”

For our foreign language choice this season we are bringing you something a little different.

🎬Coming up, JANE AUSTEN WRECKED MY LIFE on 25th April in the War Memorial Hall, Lamberhurst.

🎞️This gentle romantic comedy has, at its centre, a heroine and would-be author whose life seems to have been put on hold by the romantic illusions inherited from literature, and specifically from Jane Austen.
Suddenly removed from the safe environment of the bookshop where she works, Agathe finds herself thrown into an Austen - like love triangle which forces her to reevaluate her life.

📽️Lovers of Jane Austen or Bridget Jones will enjoy the familiar characters, scenes and themes here. But we know it will have a much wider appeal.

Don’t miss it !Put the date in your diary!

📽️A final reminder that we will be screening THE CHORAL this Saturday 28 March at 7.30pm in the War Memorial Hall, Lamberhurst.

🎞️Written by Alan Bennett and starring Ralph Fiennes, this atmospheric and thoughtful film is set in Yorkshire during WW1, as the community grapple with the demands of conscription and the devastating impact of the War.

THE GUARDIAN ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ralph Fiennes leads the choir in an impressively unsentimental Alan Bennett fable.

THE TELEGRAPH ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ralph Fiennes is tremendous in Alan Bennett’s wartime drama.

📽️Coming up on Saturday 28 March, THE CHORAL (Cert 12A, 2025), written by Alan Bennett and starring Ralph Fiennes.

🎞️Set in 1916 during WW1 in a fictional Yorkshire town, the story unfolds when a thriving community choir loses several key members through the call up and war efforts. With a new enigmatic choirmaster played by Ralph Fiennes, together they experience the joy of singing, whilst the young boys grapple with their impending conscription into the army.

📽️The Choral is a richly textured, emotionally resonant World War I drama that blends music and community spirit whilst the storyline allows Alan Bennett to gently skewer the social prejudices of the time with his trademark sharp wit and empathy.

🎟️A film not to miss, tickets at just £6 are available online via the comments box below, from Teise & Coffee on the Broadway or on the door on the night.
