I've been thinking about having a couple of open days at the studio during the summer holidays to allow a limited number of kids on each occasion, accompanied by a parent, to come into the studio and experience trying out some of the instruments playing along with other kids and opening the door for them to try a musical instrument. It's understandable that parents don't want to spend money on an instrument in case their child doesn't keep it up and it lies collecting dust so I thought this might be a great way for some kids to test the water and see if they have a genuine interest. We could also help with advice on what is best to buy for specific age groups etc and also point you in the right direction for lessons, if required.
This is also something I would consider doing with adults as well if there was enough interest but for now I'm thinking of kids during the holidays.
I haven't quite mapped out how it would work yet so I'm really just trying to guage what interest there would be before mapping out any plans.
I would try and keep each group within a similar age bracket, no previous experience would be necessary, absolute beginners are not only welcome but encouraged.
Essentially it would be perhaps a 45 minute group session and each child can have a try of each instrument, with some direction and guidance from myself and others and perhaps find what instrument they feel they like best or are most suited to and enjoyed playing the most. We can also encourage them to engage and play along with each other. Music participation is a great confidence builder and what kid doesn't like making a noise?
This is really just an idea at this stage until I can guage the interest so it you think this is something you child might be interested, please either PM me or comment below and register your interest and also the age group of your child/children. As we are totally non profit, just a nominal fee would be required to cover costs but I really don't want cost to be a barrier so it would be very small.
Both Boys and Girls welcome. My own daughter loves hammering the drums!!
Thanks
