To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Supernatural's premiere, stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins have reunited to share untold stories and reflect on the show's enduring legacy.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly and at various fan conventions, the trio revisited their time on the show and offered new insights into its behind-the-scenes moments.

Unexpected Beginnings
The actors shared their surprise at the show's initial success and the rapid growth of its dedicated fanbase, which came to be known as the "SPN Family."

Jensen Ackles (Dean Wi******er) recalled attending a convention in the U.K. after the first season and being "shocked" by the overwhelming fan response.

Misha Collins (Castiel) admitted he was "totally surprised there were fans at all" when he joined the show in Season 4. He noted that filming is often a sterile process, and the conventions were the first time he and the cast got to experience a "real audience response" from people who genuinely loved the show.

Jared Padalecki (Sam Wi******er) emphasized how the show's fandom was integral to its identity from the very beginning. He pointed out that they felt like a "little engine that could" and that the fans' early support was crucial to the show's continuation.

Behind-the-Scenes Stories
The reunion also brought out some fun and revealing anecdotes from the set:

The "Bugs" Episode: The cast laughed about the infamous Season 1 episode "Bugs," and the challenges of working with live insects. Padalecki shared a story about the crew having to handle bees with "surgical tweezers" and a "bee specialist" to avoid getting stung.

Motel Room Essentials: The actors revealed their favorite recurring set pieces from the show's iconic motel rooms, including the "see-through partitions" that production designer Jerry Wanek used and the "quarter vibrating bed machine."

Music Budget Woes: Ackles and Padalecki reminisced about a time when the show used David Bowie's "Ground Control to Major Tom," a song that was so expensive that the crew joked they had "spent all the money" and there was no food for the week.

The Legacy of "Supernatural"
Beyond the humorous moments, the stars spoke about the show's lasting impact. They highlighted the charitable efforts of the fandom, which has raised millions of dollars for various causes, and the sense of community and support that the "SPN Family" has fostered.

The reunion also touched on their on-screen reunion in the final season of the Amazon Prime series The Boys, which was created by Supernatural showrunner Eric Kripke. They described the experience of working together again as a "really lovely touch" and a great way to "play in their playground" after years apart

If you enjoyed Netflix's The Thursday Murder Club movie, with its mix of cozy British charm, amateur sleuths, and a fun, twisty mystery, you're in luck. The "cozy mystery" genre is a rich one, with a lot of great options.

Here are 10 TV shows to watch if you loved The Thursday Murder Club:

Only Murders in the Building: This is arguably the most similar show, with a very similar premise. It follows a trio of amateur sleuths—an actor, a director, and a young woman—who live in the same apartment building and start a true-crime podcast to investigate a murder. The series has the same wit and humor as The Thursday Murder Club and a similar focus on the bond between the quirky characters.

The Marlow Murder Club: Based on the book series by Robert Thorogood (the creator of Death in Paradise), this show is about a group of three amateur sleuths who team up to solve a murder in their quiet, riverside town. It has a very similar tone, with an eccentric cast of characters, a quintessentially British setting, and a "whodunnit" puzzle at its core.

Death in Paradise: If you're looking for a cozy mystery with a sunnier backdrop, this is the show for you. A series of fussy, fish-out-of-water British detectives are sent to a fictional Caribbean island to solve a string of murders. The show has a lighthearted, puzzle-box feel, and each episode is a self-contained mystery.

Midsomer Murders: A long-running staple of the cozy crime genre, this show features a high-ranking detective who investigates a shocking number of murders in the idyllic, but deceptively deadly, county of Midsomer. The series is known for its clever plots, quirky characters, and the sheer volume of ways people can be murdered in a small English village.

Agatha Raisin: This series follows a former high-powered London PR executive who retires to the Cotswolds and finds herself constantly stumbling upon murders. She then takes it upon herself to solve them with her new friends. It's a fun, flamboyant, and over-the-top mystery with a strong emphasis on comedy.

Father Brown: A kind and unassuming Catholic priest in the 1950s English countryside uses his knowledge of human nature to solve crimes. This show is very charming and low-stakes, with a focus on moral dilemmas and clever deductions.

Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators: This show follows a former police detective turned private investigator who teams up with a glamorous former hairdresser to solve a variety of crimes. The series is a delightful blend of comedy and mystery, with a theatrical flair that makes it a fun watch.

The Madame Blanc Mysteries: After her husband dies under mysterious circumstances, a woman discovers he was having an affair and sold all of their assets, leaving her with only a cottage in France. She uses her expertise as an antiques dealer to help the local police solve a series of murders.

Ludwig: This British mystery-comedy stars comedian David Mitchell as a reclusive puzzle maker who is forced to impersonate his identical twin brother, a missing DCI, to help find him. He ends up using his unique problem-solving skills to solve police cases, much to the annoyance of his colleagues.

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries: Set in 1920s Melbourne, this Australian series follows the glamorous, witty, and free-spirited Phryne Fisher as she solves crimes. It’s a stylish and fun show with a strong female lead and a captivating blend of period drama and murder mystery.

Bill Pertwee, best remembered as Chief ARP Warden Hodges in Dad’s Army, is pictured here at the unveiling of the Captain Mainwaring statue in Thetford, Norfolk, in June 2010. In the classic sitcom, Pertwee’s character was the gruff warden who constantly clashed with Captain Mainwaring and the Home Guard platoon. Forever trying to assert his authority, Hodges would often end up flustered and frustrated — a recurring source of humour in the series. His catchphrase, “Put that light out!” — shouted whenever someone broke the wartime blackout rules — became one of British television’s most familiar lines. The statue has become a popular local landmark, but its bronze glasses have sadly been vandalised several times and had to be repaired or replaced to keep the spirit of Dad’s Army alive for visitors.

For years, David Mitchell had everything critically acclaimed comedy, bestselling books, panel-show fame but something fundamental was missing: a real relationship. He even wondered if he was destined to be single for life and, during his school years, admitted to questioning his sexuality, saying he “wondered if he might be gay” back then.

Then came Victoria Coren. They first met at Jonathan Ross’s Halloween party in 2007—he was “completely smitten,” but she was with someone else at the time. For three years he pined for her; those years were, in his words, “an enormous sadness that overshadowed my life.”

By December 2010, they were finally dating, and their connection was instant and clear. He said: “I thought that I’d probably be destined to be single, but it was very clear to me when I met Victoria that this was different… it was a long wait, but it was very easy.”

They married in 2012 and went on to build a life together, welcoming two daughters. The relationship he had longed for had finally arrived—and now he has an amazing family life.
