A local newspaper with a difference. About local issues, about national issues, about hard news.
We don’t think “Fluffy Kittens rescued on A303” is a news story. If you don’t either then you should read our newspaper for a change!
The Leveller® reports on how life in our community is affected, whether that’s decisions made at Huish Episcopi Parish Council, South Somerset District or Somerset County Council or Westminster.
The Leveller® is Somerset’s largest circulation newspaper with a circulation of over 11,200 copies. That’s from a starting point of 1,000 back in 2010.
Leveller® is our registered trademark
We are about building communities, bringing people together through our news coverage in a region that is isolated with poor public transport and poor internet connections.
We are regularly criticised by a trade that sees standards as set in stone and unchanging. Our standards are to put content first and imagery and branding second. We are not afraid to add comment, and unlike most of our rivals, we still turn up to the meetings we report on.
We do not agree that local=trivial We see no reason why a local paper should not tackle the same issues as a national broadsheet - just from a local perspective.
And thousands of readers agree. From 1,000 to over 11,700 circulation in less than 10 years in fact!
We are the perfect vehicle to advertise your business. The best value ad rates around and a newspaper that people actually read with circulation going up every month - what more could you ask!
