“Mr Cotton” – that’s how Dai would always greet me.

Always with a firm handshake, a warm smile, and that signature smirk. Partly a wind-up, mostly respect, and from there, it was fair game for the back-and-forth.

No ego, just humour, kindness, and a quiet strength that made you feel better just being around him, unless of course you were his rival.

If you were, well, good bloody luck.

Today, the motorsport community comes together to pay our respects to the big man.

We are hugely proud of Josh McErlean Rallying and Eoin Treacy who made their WRC Rally1 debut at the brutal Rallye Monte Carlo last weekend.

Coping perfectly with the demands of the unforgiving event, they quickly settled into their M-Sport Ford Puma Rally1 despite the huge learning curve.

Coming away with seventh overall and upholding team honours, meant it was mission accomplished for the MIRallyAcademy pair, and it was a joy to support them throughout the week.

Clients can come and go. But luckily at MCR, most of our client base has been with us from the very beginning, meaning they turn into friends, forging not only a superb working partnership but also a great relationship.

That's why seeing Josh McErlean Rallying step into the WRC top-flight in 2025 means more than just a press release to us.

Having worked with Josh since his Junior BRC days in 2019, he has flourished into a fantastic young guy with oodles of talent and an all-round great attitude.

A huge nod must go to Richard Millener, M-Sport and the MIRallyAcademy for their continued investment in progressive talent - do not underestimate the work they do for our sport.

A very proud moment to see Josh in M-Sport colours.
Having a WRC driver on the books has been a bit of a dream since we started our journey in 2012.
